Well thought out snow gear

This suit is so well made! It's as good as my snow gear and I work in the snowsports industry. The reflective coating inside works amazing just like the 3D Omni Heat in Columbia gear, and kept my pup toasty in the single digits. They even figured out how to keep the belly warm. You can sinch down the sides which somehow causes the suit to close inward on the belly area, love this! Truly well thought out extreme weather gear for your dog. If your dog is close to needing the bigger size, get the bigger size. I got the smaller size but her range of motion was somewhat limited of she layed down. I returned it for the next size up and it does great. The many adjustments work perfectly.

Well designed coat
Very nice coat that covers quite well. Seems to be warm enough for my Boston Terrier. Rated to -20F however it's not a full cover suit so I wouldn't take the dog out below +25F anyway, or even under 32F without paw coverings of some sort (still looking for compatible shoes). I really like the ease in which this jacket goes on. Has one strap that goes between the front legs and up around the back and clips together and is adjustable. The back has a covered opening for the leash to attach to a harness underneath. Didn't try hooking it to a collar which would run the leash through the opening and higher up to the neck, I suppose that would work as long as it didn't put excessive stress on the opening given the indirect placement of a collar attachment. The back of the jacket has soft elastic straps that the back legs go through which run on the inner thigh to keep the back of jacket in place. The first jacket was just slightly too short so the straps rubbed uncomfortably against his skin and the back didn't quite seat properly over the butt. So I ordered a size up and it fits much better. The straps don't irritate now as they hang looser. They should just hang as a guide and not hold tightly and rub. Being that my Boston was in between sizes, the larger size coat was just slightly long but because the coat has a length cinching cord, I was able to draw it up as needed. This is one of three adjustment cinching cords on the coat. There is one at top of the should/base of neck and another on the pull-up hoodlike inner that you can cinch for better enclosure against wind and cold. But my favorite thing is you can option to pull this hood up and over the ears and then cinch it (being careful to not over tighten) to the proper fit so that it stays up and protects the ears! The cinching cords take a minute to get use to because there's no bulky plastic mechanism that you usually find on this sort of thing in which you pull the cord and push in the button to hold. So this is much better for comfort and streamline purposes. Instead there's a tiny plate with tapered slots that you pull cord through and guide to narrow end of slots to where it grips the cords. Pretty simple yet effective and frankly once you adjust them you should only have to readjust the one on the hood as needed for have the hood up or down. Otherwise once adjusted there's no need to readjust any of them. There were no problems with getting any urine on the coat when he goes to the bathroom given the design and fit. There is a snap behind the butt that you can either leave unsnapped or just unbutton when you see your dog needs to do a #2. Or you can snap the whole back up above, which will stay well out of the way for even the clumsiest of dogs. The jacket seems very well made and looks sharp as well. The 3m reflective material reflects brightly and is highly effective. Very happy with this coat!

Great so far for my red healer
So far this Hurtta Extreme Warmer Dog Winter Jacket has been keeping my 10 month old healer warm in MN weather. My dog is about 40 lbs and I went with size 20,which fit perfectly. The size was so confusing because her her chest and neck measurements were way off (a lot smaller) for that's recommended for size 20.but after reading reviews, I went with the back legnth and I'm glad I did. It's not super thick as I thought it'd be but I can't comment on how it'll hold up for single digit Temps since we simply just haven't gone out when it's that cold. This is my first dog and first doggy jacket so I have no other jackets to compare. Features I like: adjustable around neck, chest and back, easy to slip the head through the front (I thought it'll be difficult), bottom layer to cover dog (didn't realize how nice it was to keep bottom from getting wet/dirty) , overall water resistant, two slits in the back for the harness (for me, one for the lease and the second one for the handle of my harness) and the slit In the back for when the dog needs to take care of business. There are two elastic bands that goes around the hind legs that keeps the jacket from slipping off. I've read some complaints about this, but for me it was fine. My dog was able to run wild without it bothering her and do her thing. I'd say about 90% of the time her poop doesn't get on the back of the coat. I think it just depends on how far down your dog crouches and maybe the size of the stool? If we're just going for a walk then I leave the elastic on the back off and that's been fine too. Itd have to say this is perfect for the dog park when there's snow and/or rain on the ground. She plays rough and she's usually clean(er) from dirt and water with this jacket on. Overall it was a great purchase and I'm happy with it.

LOVE the Hurtta Extreme Overall!!

We LOVE our new Huerta Extreme Overall dog snowsuit!! We live in Maine and have been dealing with temperatures dipping into the negatives for the past couple of months. We recently adopted a 65 pound pittie/boxer mix with very short hair who needed something to keep him warm on our frigid snowy days. We measured him carefully and decided to go with size 22M. It fits him PERFECTLY!!! We don’t even have to snap the snaps at the bottom of the legs or adjust any of the well placed cords to cinch it in. It can be a little tricky to get it on as it is a bit snugger than his last snowsuit, but once you get the hang of it, it is quite easy. Based on measurements, he probably also would have fit in the 24M if we cinched it a bit. So if you are feeling really torn, you are probably safe to go with the larger size. The material feels durable, and the silver lining inside keeps him warm and cozy. The tag says that it is rated from -20 F to 30 F, but we hope we don’t have to find out if the -20 is true!! We also love how reflective it is at night. I have attached a few pics to hopefully give you an idea of the fit and the reflectiveness. I also attached a couple of pics without him wearing anything to help guide your size selection. This snowsuit is well worth the money and I would highly recommend it!!

Great for my Dachshund, measurements included

I like this product. The materials seems thin but I noticed that my dog has more energy on our walks because I believe that jacket is keeping her warm her. I have a Dachshund dog, she has a chest measurement of 21 1/2 inches, neck measurement of 13.5 inches , and a length of 17 3/4 inches. I purchased the 16 inch jacket as other reviewers said the jacket ran long. Also the adjustable cloth head/ear covers are a wonderful design feature, but are not waterproof. The jacket has been tested and temperatures in the 30s, it seems to keep my dog warm unless we’ve stopped for a prolonged period of time (greater than 15 minutes); Then she will start to shake. But when we’re moving no shakes no signs of cold discomfort. So far I am satisfied with the jacket. Negative: I’m not sure if the jacket is entirely waterproof. It definitely seems more water resistant than waterproof, but I can’t be sure if water is being splashing up her jacket AFTER it hits the ground, because my dog is a Dachshund and close to the ground. Also once the inside of the jacket is wet it seems takes about 8 to 12 hours to air dry. The adjustable waist strap is sturdy and well-made but can get a bit confusing when tightening and loosening. The jacket has back butt/leg flaps sometimes poop can get on back inside of jacket (Keep in mind I prefer the flaps to be closer to her to help prevent wind from getting up her backside). Lastly jacket is pricey 95 dollars after taxes and shipping. Ultimately I really like the jacket. I would have and would recommend to others. I would buy another one if the price was lower.

This coat is 100% worth the hefty price tag. My dog is a shar pei mix and has very thin fur, bully breed chest, extra skin around her neck, small-ish head, flat eggshell ears and a thick curly q tail that rests on her back. She’s adorable 😍 but hard to fit for coats. Like the other reviewers said the Hurtta coat is crazy adjustable, thin but very very warm, covers more of my dogs body than anything else and doesn’t restrict Jezebel’s movements in the slightest. We just went through a crazy polar vortex with -35 degree temps, 40+ mph winds, snow and ice and she didn’t seem notice any of it when she had this bad boy on. I do have a couple of tips, however, for a few issues I see people listing. 1) Do not cut the straps off of a $100 dog coat. 🤦🏻♀️ The ones that go around the back legs do detach on the outside loop, not the interior, which is sewn in. I agree, the straps do suck and they absolutely ran right up my dogs butt and irritated her...lady bits. But they are necessary! They do keep the coat in place as it will shift without them and will prevent wind from flipping the backside up and exposing your pup to freezing temps. I attached some pictures of what I’m talking about and what I ended up doing, which was to disconnect both strap at the bottom, swoop them crisscross under her belly and attached them to the opposite side. This kept the coat totally in place, wasn’t tight on her belly or overly loose either. 2) The butt button is kind of a pain...in the butt. 🤔 I cinched and adjusted a million times and could not get this perfected where no poop or pee touched it and it still covered her back legs. Can’t win every battle I guess. So I opted to cinch it where no pee got on it but occasionally a turd or two might (I’m rarely fast enough to unsnap it before she goes). So, if you see the butt button area filling up like a dirty diaper don’t panic! The interior material is super slippery and it will fall out and doesn’t leave any skid marks behind. Just remember to wipe it down when you come back inside, which takes less than 30 seconds. Haven’t dealt with any diarrhea yet, so I can’t speak to that. 3) The snood!! I love the snood because it’s hilarious and awesome. But, with Jezebel’s flat as a pancake ears it would constantly slip over her eyes every time she shook her head, even after tightening both spots. So what I did was tighten the furthest back one comfortably (collar tightness) and the front one I did loosely and rolled it under and back until just before her ears. Worked like a charm and stayed put! I attached pics of Jezebel with no coat (so you can see the ears and cuteness), her after a polar vortex walk with the snood and straps in place, and what I did to adjust the straps. Even with the few minor “problems” this coat has it is the absolute best! If you’re teetering between buying it or not just go for it! It was last you years!! I beyond highly recommend!

I have had dogs all my life, and now have a two year old Beagle. This is by far the BEST dog jacket I have ever bought! I LOVE the gray neck covering that can be adjusted. It even goes over her ears for those really cold, windy days. Other dog coats, had hoods, that went over her eyes as she had her nose to the ground sniffing around, as Beagles do. :) So being able to adjust is just an AWESOME feature! There is also the added neck covering that is part of the jacket. I like that the jacket is long enough and covers her front all the way to her back end. So, take the time to measure. The back leg loops help keep the back in place, & Gracie doesn't mind them at all. It has a place that her harness goes through which is in a MUCH better spot than other dog coats I have purchased & EASY to get to, yet has a cover to keep the cold out. To get the jacket on, you do have to put your dog's head through the neck opening but Gracie doesn't mind that at all. There is also the adjustable strap that goes around the body that helps keep the dog coat in place. Gracie is just so EXCITED when she sees her jacket, as she knows she is going on a journey, And, I am happy knowing that she will be warm. I am SO grateful I researched & spent a little extra money on this dog coat. Would DEFINTATELY buy it again. I REALLY appreciate this company's attention to detail. Thank you!

Best dog coat ever,!
I have a German short haired pointer. 65 lbs He has very little hair on his underside, so keeping warm can be an issue. Most all the dog coats I have tried do not fit his large chest size, and he’s very cut or trim at the back belly before his back legs. This coat adjusts to his body shape. We just had sub zero temps & he loves his new Hurtta coat. He actually wanted to go out & do his business & stayed out longer in the cold weather. This coat is very adjustable in several key areas. At the neck is an elastic cinch cord built into the coat, then there is another built in cinch cord that runs down the base of the neck to the rump. The gater at the neck adjusts in width, this can cover his ears and stays in place thru heavy running play time. The quick clip chest fastener also it adjustable. There is a slit at the tail, & can be snapped under tail or left open. Elastic straps for rear legs to hold back area down, they do not have to be used for basic potty time but are great for running play time. The reflective inner material is warm to the touch when he comes back in so you know it works retaining body heat. After the initial adjustments are cinched they stay that way for the next use. So easy to slip on, he comes running headfirst into his coat, pull the gater over his ears,I grab the clips under his chest & quick clip over his back, all in about 20 seconds. Well worth the money he’s 3 & will use for many years to come. It’s water resistant and keeps the wet rain or snow off his back.
