I LOVE Hurtta coats for all three of mine: 2 tiny Maltese (4 lbs a piece) and my 95 lb GSD--who honestly doesn't need a coat...but he has one, because I'm a silly dog mama and he's much loved :P My GSD just has a Hurtta raincoat, my two littles have this Expedition Parka (as well as a Hurtta raincoat)...but the parka gets more wear...it's waterproof and warm enough I don't need to layer another shirt under it...but it's adjustable enough that another fleece shirt could fit if needed. There are a few things that are so special about Hurtta coats, including this one: they're nice enough to be YOUR coat (they're also expensive enough to be your coat, ha), and the adjustable fit makes ALL the difference. The breastplate/waist adjustment is just flawless in my eyes...it makes for such a perfect fit. My girl is long and skinny (4 lbs 6 ounces), she wears the 10 in. My little guy (4 lb Maltese) is shaped like a square with his short back but deep chest, he wears an 8 inch. The 2 adjustments around the neck are perfect and prevent my skinny girl's front legs from popping out the front when she runs, jumps or climbs. And they're warm enough for my tiny, finely haired Maltese to deal with temps in the 30's. Anyway, thank you Hurtta for making REAL coats even for the tiny dogs. So many brands just forget about the toy breeds, but they love being outside too, even if they're not built for it...which makes it all the more important to have legit outerwear for them. ... show more

I knew about Hurtta but tried other coats not wanting to pay as much. I ended up spending more and came back to this one. It fits all my requirements: No velcro, my dog hates the sound and I have other things to work with her on so one less thing to desensitize her. Easy on easy off. Full coverage, including neck coverage when my dog is head is down sniffing. I suggest to follow manufacturers instructions on measurement unless you want a shorter coat on the dogs back. You can shorten the back of the coat and still have back legs covered using its drawstring. I was worried I ordered a big one after reading comments about people ordering a size down but I'm glad I stuck to the measurements. The fit is great. Coat doesn't shift or, if it does, it corrects itself quickly even without using the back leg straps. My dogs refuse to walk with leg straps so I cut them. This is the only coat long enough to provide full coverage and not keep shifting around without the straps. I also like the fit and coverage of Chilly dogs but the velcro was a deal breaker there. We already had one rain storm, dog's coat was dry and the coat dried off pretty quickly afterwards. ... show more

My 22 month old bichon poo is only 8.7 lb and he gets cold when temperature drops under 55. Last winter I had to put two layers on him on the coldest days. I saw a dog wearing this coat when I walked him in the park and am so glad I asked the owner for the information and ordered it despite the price. The coat is of high quality, I can tell it will last for years. My pup is slim but has a long body, his back length measures 13 in. I initially ordered a 10 inch but it turned out to be too short. The 12 inch has perfect length but I do have to adjust the strap to the shortest so he won’t look like swimming in it. Highly recommend if cost is not an issue. ... show more

As a Great Dane owner I have always struggled to find products that fit my 120 lb boy. After ordering this coat (size: 32 in) I will be a Hurtta client for life! Not only does this coat fit my dog like a dream, but it is also thick, beautiful and well made. I would purchase again and again!

We have two dogs, one with a more stout build and broad chest and the other with a skinny lanky build. This coat fits them boath well. It covers the back and chest pretty thoroughly and still leaves the important bits open enough they have no issues doing their business. The fabric feels durable and warm. I'll update the rating if it starts to fall apart. We've gone through a couple $40 coats at this point so I'm hoping this one will last. ... show more

These coats are perfect for rain and the cold weather. This coat is a gift, but we already had these coats for each of our pups and we love how easy they are to put in and take off and how their undersides are completely protected from rain and mud.
