This is very similar to the basic kickboard I used to learn to swim on. The choice in multiple patterns allowed me to have the kiddo choose what they wanted to get excited about learning to swim this summer. It's quite buoyant and honestly even at 245 lbs I have a hard time keeping it under water, so I trust it to keep my 7 year old up and out of the water, under close supervision of course. I did not need one of these with my oldest child, but every kid learns differently, if your kid will not move their legs and insist on only swimming with their arms this is a great training aid to get them to bring it all together. ... show more

This is a kick board not a boogie board. Barely holds my 4 year old above water. It’s become more of a toy than a useful item.

This is a decent board. When I first received it I was a little worried because I thought that it was just straight up painted styrofoam. After removing the protective plastic sleeve I realized that it does have a "fabric" cover over the styrofoam, it just looked like it didn't because the white part of the design is a little see through-- hopefully this isn't an indication of it being too thin or weak because we'll need it to be tough to withstand years of being exposed to chlorine and sun. The styrofoam itself seems pretty solid and it should hold up well even with some rough handling from the kids, but it's definitely going to get dented over time because it already has some dents to it that were there when it arrived. It was a little smaller than what I pictured, and when I measured it, it's actually 16" from nose to tail and not the 18" that the seller stated-- but it'll do just fine for my kids to play with in the pool anyway. I really like the way it looks, (I ordered the "sea waves" design) it's definitely very different and a lot cooler-looking than any of the other kickboards we've had in the past, they're usually pretty plain. This board will be a big hit this summer, and I'm sure my kids will all argue about who gets to use it. ;) ... show more

I like the design, but aside from that it’s just like your average kickboard. I was a little disappointed because you can kind of see the Styrofoam through the coating on mine. Maybe it won’t show on darker colors. I would’ve also preferred to have hand holes. It is super buoyant, and I have no doubt that it will never sink. The price at $14 is pretty good, so if you like the Hurley design, go ahead and go for it. ... show more
