  • Heart
I love this item I can learn more about my heart.

  • Great for display in an office.
It’s a great model. To put it back together it has magnetic connectors. Well defined parts of the heart. Sturdy. Color differences help a person know which areas carry oxygenated blood and which ones have depleted oxygen. It’s almost the same size as human heart. For the price l think it’s decent. Not sure expensive. Only problem is proper alignment of some of the blood vessels. ... show more

  • Good quality model, wish it had more parts
This model is high qaulity, vibrant colors, and takes seconds to assemble and open/put back together. It's a great size, seemingly about the size of a real heart if I had to guess. It's made of a hard rubber like material that feels like it would last forever if kept out of the sun. It came packaged carefully and without any damage. I do wish it had a couple more parts because it's fun to dive deeper. But it shows what i needs to show with the two pieces. The price is about right for a model like this. I can't really speak to the accuracy, but it appears to look correct to my knowledge of hearts. ... show more

  • Realistic, Well Made, Nice Looking Model at a Great Price
Pros: As a medical student I got this partly as a study aid – looking at the three dimensional structure helps me when I’m answering questions about function and disease – and partly because I thought it would make a nice décor piece in my science themed home office. It has worked well on both counts. The pain job is better than I had expected – I was prepared for some sloppiness, but the colors are opaque, not streaky, and applied neatly. There are small, discrete number labels that correspond to the included information card. It’s realistically sized and made out of thick, heavy material that is very sturdy. The magnetic cut away section is easy to remove, and very secure when in place - much nicer than cheap plastic models where the parts are connected only by little plastic pins. Cons: It had a strong plastic-chemical scent on arrival and, although the worst faded after a day of airing out, it still has an odor up close that lingers on your hands after you handle the model. I tried washing it with warm water and dish soap, and leaving it outdoors in the sunshine and breeze for an afternoon, but the smell remains. As someone who is sensitive to odors this is annoying for me, because whenever I handle it I have to wash my hands afterwards to get the scent off. Overall: Helpful anatomical model for students or medical providers, and nice enough looking to serve as a décor or conversation piece at home for the anatomy enthusiast. Despite the odor, the quality of the model is such good value for the price that I'm giving this five stars. ... show more

  • Smaller than I expected, but still useful and affordable.
This is life-size so think more like the size of your fist. This heart model is about 5 2/8” in height and not 8 7/16 as listed, but the other dimensions are correct. I lead a CPR and first aid course for my work and thought it’d be great to show a heart and what chest compressions are trying to replicate. I was hoping it was going to be a much bigger size, but that’s my fault for not reading carefully. I appreciate that you can open this up and the pieces feel solid and fit together perfectly with magnets. It comes apart easily (for sure if you drop it) and stays together well when connected. I am not a medical professional, but the labeling does seem correct. The card, though, is small (roughly 4”x5.5”) sort of flimsy. It is like a laminated kind of paper but still feels flimsy and I can see it getting misplaced easily. The text on the card has odd spacing that makes it feel unreliable. The bottom of the stand looks like it should have rubber feet but mine didn’t come with any, so it slides around fairly easily. I work with adults, though, so I don’t worry about this getting mishandled. Scientific models used to be prohibitively expensive. I appreciate that this is affordable. ... show more

  • Understanding health is good, plastic smell is bad
I am not any kind of health professional, but I am very interested in learning about things that are important to me or to my family. I wanted to have an idea of what's happening with heart chambers and valves, other than the very dumbed down explanations that the doctors give us. (Not their fault. Most of us don't have even a basic understanding of our own anatomy. Medical professionals do a great job considering how ignorant we patients can be.) I found it fascinating to look over this model and find all the parts as listed on the included card. The relative sizes of everything was surprising to me. I had heard that a person's heart is about the size of their fist. Seeing it in 3D form really helps with understanding. When I first unwrapped this model, it stunk of plastic and chemicals. I had to leave it in the garage to air out before I could stand to be in the same room. After a few days, the smells are all gone, but I still wash my hands after handling it. ... show more

  • Needs Improvements
I purchased this for my daughter who is taking anatomy in her last year in high school before she heads off to pre-med this fall. I thought it might be helpful to have a hands-on device at home as well as the classroom and the 3-D model on line. It has some weight to it and each part is labels with a printout that indicates what all the parts are relative to the numbers on the model itself. I will say that quality control is lacking as the label sheet is pretty poorly edited. No space after each number, irregular spacing, no space after word and parenthesis, The list does not line up for easy reading. I thing a bit more propriety could have been put into the reference card looking more professional. The base to hold the heart model is plastic and extremely flimsy. Again, a better material would be appreciated. Possibly a wood base but definitely a more weighted and substantial material would be expected if a medical professional is going to display this in their office or even an educational institution would likely use it. It is quite easy to tip and I would not likely sit this on my desk or my daughter's desk in the dorm. ... show more
