The build is sturdy with both of the covers in a thick plastic, good if it's rubbing against laptops, books and binders. I use these for my science and math classes in which both writing and drawing are part of the note taking process. When kept next to eachother in my bag the binding sometimes gets tangled but besides that they are very sturdy and high quality. I started using these for college a week ago and I wish I had had them for all of my courses prior. I love dot grid paper and these notebooks allow you to design your own cover page (as the plastic cover is see-through). The paper is of great quality and every pen writes great on it. I wish they were a bit cheaper but I get it, the price is likely due to the higher quality. I won't buy those Five Star college-ruled notebooks again unless in a pinch, these are SO much better. ... show more

This is my staple, now. I'm in the design industry and it's a great notebook for me- for writing notes, sketching, there's no bleed at the back of the page from use of thicker pens that leak more ink so there's more usable paper surface, the dots help with scaling when I'm sketching and I don't even notice the dots when I write, the binder ring is perfectly wide...
