This review is for the Keydial REMOTE, not the Mini. The Mini is the one that looks more like a keyboard. The Amazon page has both items under the same page but 2 different various listed as Bluetooth and dual Bluetooth which mixes reviews for two totally different devices. Let's start with packaging. Its pretty good. Came in a nice sturdy box. It came with a case for the remote which is quite nice. In the box youll also find a USB C charger and a manual. There are no instructions, just a diagram showing you where everything is. But upon turning it on its in pairing mode so all you have to do is navigate to your settings in your device and pair it. It'll say something like Huion Remote or K40. Disclosure I'm using it on a Samsung tablet so im not sure about connecting it to a desktop. But it didnt take long to connect. And once you turn it off and back on, itll take probably 1.5 seconds to boot up and another 4 seconds to automatically pair with your device again. It has 2 Bluetooth channels and so you just flip the switch on the left side and youll just rinse and repeat to pair a second device if you so wish. Once paired you can download an app in the Play Store to customize the buttons. The app isnt anything fancy but its easy to navigate and gets the job done. You can have them do whatever you want and name each function and itll all show up on the OLED screen. You cant use this in landscape mode by the way. Only portrait. It should work in pretty much every app you would want to use it in. I use it in Clip Studio Paint and its flawless. You can configure the buttons to do different things for different apps though which is nice. So for example one button can be assigned to "F9" but do 2 different things in different apps as long as thats how you configure it. The design is nice. Its pretty lightweight. I think a little more weight could make it really feel premium. It fits very well in the hand and translates onto a desk well too. The big thing youll notice is the dual dials on top. Its large but its not intrusive. I haven't had it long enough to comment on battery life but the item description notes 30 hours of active use which is more than enough. It doesn't need to pull a lot of power so you shouldn't be in trouble if you go to bed without charging it. Though that'll be my habit anyway. It enters sleep mode after 15 minutes but you can always shut it off completely as well. Just move the switch downward all the way. In actual use it works very well. The buttons of the Keydial Mini are sensitive and so its super easy to make accidental presses. This remote has better tech for the buttons so they're resistant just enough to prevent those accidental presses. Being able to see what buttons do what thanks to the OLED screen is really nice and makes it feel that much more personal. It takes a bit of getting used to and your productivity will take a hit for a bit until you spend time with this. But if you stick with it for at least a week to get the most out of it, your productivity will be much greater than what you were doing before most likely, especially if you werent using a shortcut device at all. The device also transports well whether youre using the included case or not. It can easily slide into just about any pocket in your bag or honestly it can fit into your pocket as well. All up how you wanna carry it around. Also, it doesnt really make a lot of noise. The only noise youll really hear from it is when youre using the dials but even that is fairly quiet. I would give this device a solid 9/10. The only thing it can do better is add a bit of weight or some sturdier material. But obviously this is a very minor complaint. For everything that it does and the price of $80-$100 I think it's pretty great. And I foresee it being by drawing companion for at least the next couple of years or until they perhaps release an upgraded unit. ... show more

    • Good idea...bad product
Been using the Tour Box Elite Plus for my iPad video editing and love it. But I was looking for something similar with a bit more functionality so tried the Huion Keydial. OMG, the driver software is HORRIBLE. Bluetooth keeps on disconnecting. "Page" turn on the device is slow. Hard to remake keys. Device feels cheaply made too.     • Worked great, research for compatibility though.
I got this because I have massive hands and cramp trying to press different key combinations while drawing. It worked great for what it was worth, and offered a smoother drawing experience. HOWEVER I was not aware that it wasn't super compatible with my tablet's update version, and had trouble with the keybinds. If you are considering buying this product, please do your research to see if it is compatible with your current equipment. ... show more

    • Powerful little gadget
Absolute must-have if you have a Kamvas 19 or larger, which lack the built-in programmable hotkeys of the smaller models that I've grown heavily reliant on. My PC's motherboard is a bit on the older side, so the bluetooth connection blips out frequently (my PC forgets I have bluetooth built-in at all, so that's a me problem not a Keydial problem), but luckily it comes with a charging cable you can use to have it in wired mode if wireless isn't working out for whatever reason. Very adaptable to multiple programs, not just art programs, and you can set up each program's keys on a separate set/menu of commands. Absolutely worth the money in my case since I do art commissions and cover art for books as a side job. ... show more

    • Disappointing product from a company I usually swear by
I really wanted this product to be good. I've been using and still use the older version of the key dial. If the bugs could be worked out would be a great product. First the positives: 1. Nicely packaged, nice foam around a custom zippered carrying case. 2. I really like the button and dual dial layout, and it feels good in my hand. 3. The OLED screen is nice, a lot of thought went into the interface. 4. The dual Bluetooth option is great if you have to swap it between computers. And sadly, the bads: 1. Uses a stand alone program for it, instead of adding it to the existing huion tablet program I use for my Kamvas 16 and older keypad. 2. The customer support is very lack luster. 3. The game breaker, for me unusable for photo processing. On my original unit, as well as the replacement I was sent, the 2 middle keys would add "f" and "d" to any keystroke regardless of the command programmed into it or which of the 6 pages of commands it was on. All other keys worked as promised. The story. I receive the k40, and installed the driver/configuration program. Opening up photoshop, I set all the key binds to mirror my older Huion keypad. At first everything seemed fine until post processing a photo I noticed the f and d keystrokes being added to commands (really threw me off when photoshop started cycling the full screen modes when I was trying to select the brush command). I followed the suggested troubleshooting steps from the manual, with no luck. The Huion Tech support is 13 hours ahead, so sent them an email with the requested video of the problem happening, only to receive a response that they will be out of office for another 12 days and they would try to look at it no longer than 4 days after returning. I then requested and received a replacement from Amazon, and had the same problem with the 2 middle keys opposite of the original problem. I have now returned both units and requested to be refunded my purchase price. ... show more

    • Great addition to the drawing accessory market
This is a great addition to my drawing setup. I use a Samsung tablet and a Huion Pro 19 (both touchscreens) so I use the dials for brush size and sub tool menu. The only disadvantage is changing menus in the Keydial is slow. Hit the button and wait a few seconds for the oled screen to switch. It's Bluetooth paired to my tablet and I plug it into my PC, but it has a second Bluetooth pairing option if I got a better Bluetooth antenna on my PC it could be wireless both places. ... show more

The Good: The wheel is far superior to the K20. I'm on my third K20 all of which the wheel went bad. And having togglable shortcut maps is nice. The Bad: Connectivity is inconsistent, and in my opinion, it's not a good upgrade for users coming from the K20. Your workflow WILL decrease as you adjust to the new layout and form factor. If this is your introduction to shortcut devices, it's acceptable and will likely suit you just fine. Veterans not so much. ... show more

    • Poorly designed product and weak functionality
Huion usually makes great products ... NOT this one. The Huion Keydial Remote is an absolute nightmare for any non-default functionality. 1. The driver is horrible. A. At times it has a stability in communication to the computer. B. It has a hard time identifying the current application and switching the menu to that is programmed for it. I reinstalled the driver and one of the times it did Identify correctly the drawing/painting app I was using but after a short while it got confused. C. Even if it is on the correct menu for the software, it will haphazardly switch to another. 2. User created commands (keyboard shortcuts) have no text alias to display. Deceiving product screenshot leading one to believe that the commands have a description text to display - If you need to type in the short cut command (example a redo command: Tab + Shift + Z) the app/product displays that instead of allowing you to provide a text "Redo") - I have a competitor product that does allow for a text user description to be displayed. 3. The dial programming is minimal to unusable for non-provided manufacturer built in commands. For example, it does have a zoom command selectable from one of the minimal provided commands. But if I need to provide a keyboard shortcut there is no two text box spots for increasing and decreasing when moving the dial. A competitor product I have does have that. 4. It is a great thing that there are two dials ... but, one has to switch to the next menu if you want a third or a fourth. That is problematic because one has switched the rest of the button functionality to the new menu instead of keeping those initial commands. The competitor product I have allows independent switching of dials while display notification of dial functionality one switches to. In summary I like the other Huion products I have and those are quality. I can't believe they have allowed this on the market. If Huion would fix the driver Bluetooth stability, selected application stability, dial keyboard short cut for increase and decrease, and user description text functionality they would have a professional product ... They could fix all of this from a software update. Are they going to do this and maintain their reputation? I hope so. But for now, find the competitor product that is sold on Amazon and you will be so much more satisfied of a professional level product. I would return the Huion Note: I am using this on a Windows 11 pro desk top and a Windows 11 pro Microsoft tablet. With the desk top I am using a Huion tablet with stylus tilt and barrel roll. The primary software I am using this on is the Rebelle 8 paint program, browser with YouTube videos that I have programmed the dial to video advance or back, and Visual Studio IDE - the competitor product is very solid on identifying the app and applying the correct short cuts for the selected app and that are displayed in description and not the shortcut. ... show more
