This this set comes with everything that you need to make some fun air-dry clay creations. It comes with 36 colors of clay that are individually wrapped in their own pillow packs. All of the packs are different colors although some are similar. The set also comes with many tools and accessories as well. It comes with 8 clay tools that are specially good for giving textures, lines, cutting, dots, and all of the things that you would need. These 8 tools are double ended so you actually have 16 different tools available. It comes with three springs that have double sticky tape on one end so that you can make a clay creation and once it dries attach it to the spring. You could also build the clay on the non-sticky end and then use the double sticky and to hold it in place on a car dashboard or something similar. This would make a creation similar to a bobblehead. There are also 6 different cookie cutters in various shapes: a carrot, a teddy bear, mouse ears, a star, a circle, and a leaf. There is a bag of 15 small pom poms that could be used as eyes, nose, ears, etc. There is also a bag of holographic foil stars in multiple colors that can be used on the outside or mixed into the clay. There are so many creative options. And then there is a huge bag of accessories such as sunglasses, feet, eyeballs, clothing - all sorts of fun things so to add to your clay animals. In addition to all the other accessories, it also comes with six round magnets that have double sticky tape on the back so that your creations can be used on a refrigerator or anything else magnetic. There are also some small jewelry findings for rings, keychains, hooks, earrings, lanyards, and things like that. As this is air-dry clay, once you open the sealed packs, any clay you're not using needs to be immediately stored in a zippered bag. This set comes with 36 small, zippered bags so that each color could have its own little bag for storage if you don't use the whole amount. If you are going to use air dry clay, I recommend keeping away from breezes as it will cause the clay to dry faster. When working with clay you should make sure that your hands are moist and possibly even use hand lotion before you open it up so that the clay doesn't stick to your hands. If your hands are dry, the clay will stick to your hands more than if they are moist. This clay can be used to make 3D projects but can also be used to make pictures on canvas boards by smearing the clay onto the board. The clay can be mixed as long as it hasn’t dried, and it can be worked fairly well. (See pictures for my granddaughter’s projects) There are so many different colors in this set that you should be able to have a color for what you need without having to mix much clay. My kids love artsy crafty fun, and this clay has been a great activity for them. There are lots of colors to choose from so their imaginations go wild. It's easy to mold and it dries hard into cute little figures for them to play with or display. It's good quality clay and I highly recommend it.

    • FOAM clay. Still soft/foamy when dried.

The biggest takeaway from this is simply know this is foam clay. This clay does dry with air exposure but it still doesn't dry hard and remains almost brittle if attempting to shape or clean up parts after dried. Knowing that and /wanting/ that, this stuff isn't bad at it. It's pretty easy to work with and does have a decent working time before it dries out and while still spongey becomes brittle and crumbly with enough pressure. It's non sticky and isn't unpleasant to handle even with tactile sensitivities. It really doesn't have a smell either which I appreciated. The included extra bits are... there. It's mostly mediocre to low quality craft stuffs, and I include the tools included with that statement. Most of this stuff will break pretty easily and the tools don't really serve much purpose beyond saying something like, "this is the type of tool you'd want when you work with real clay." I get that this is a pretty cheap product aimed at being something kids can use and there won't be hard feelings about wasted product or materials because there wasn't much invested in the purchase. That I guess sums up what this is good for in my opinion. It'd be very hard to sculpt anything of much detail with this stuff too. Again great stuff for little kids making zany grossly detailed shapes and sculpts, just not great for much else. ... show more

This has lots of colors and is fun activity for family fun night, the plus side is it is air dry so the cool creations are not just a memory, they can stay on the mantel for years. The clay is very easy to mold into what you want it to be, and even though it is air dry, it does not dry out to fast that you can make exactly what you want to make before it drys. ... show more

This is one of the first times I tried making things with clay. I figured this would be a good set to start with. It is good for beginners. The price is right and everything you need to get started is included. I didn’t make anything good but had some fun with this. I think it would be a good set for kids.     • Fun but really messy

Did this craft with my 3 yr. old and 5 yr. old and I'm not sure if I really recommend it. The clay itself was fine to work with but it was insanely sticky basically to anything except our counter. It sticks to itself, to clothing, carpet etc. Highly recommend using old clothes and being on a hard surface. I was a tad disappointed with the clay when it dried. Even after several days the inside of the clay was still pretty wet and when my kids played with their little creations, they quickly broke them and got sticky clay everywhere. We got lucky and fortunately didn't ruin anything that couldn't be replaced easily. The tools and accessories are pretty cheap and I was really disappointed in the cookie cutters. The clay stuck to the inside of them. So you couldn't actually make the shapes. We ended up using our real cookie cutters and those worked a lot better. Summary, fun craft for older more responsible kids, you should probably heat the final product with a hair dryer so that it dries thoroughly and just don't even bother with the included tools. ... show more
