Not only are they good for shooting, we use ours in the sxs and I also use them when I'm doing metal work and they work far better than ear plugs because you can hear better what's going on around you.. it also slightly amplifies quieter noises. When it comes time for loud noises like cutting sheet metal roofing with a circular saw, it shuts the noise down.. Im also still on my first set of batteries after using them for at least 15 hours off and on over a few months.. only gripe would be the ear cushions were hurting after an hour or so of use. I did buy gel cushions and that extended that out to 3-4 hours before they got uncomfortable which is good enough for me.. we stop every couple hours while out on the sxs anyway so no biggie.. once in a while they pick up other radio transmissions but it has other channels or I just keep driving and they go away after 1/2 mile usually. I would recommend these for any couple or family in the outdoors camping, sxs, hiking, loud work or anytime you need to keep in contact with someone within a mile or two. We bring an extra pair for other jeeps or sxs's too.

Amazing for range day. You can wear them all day long the pads are nice and snug. You can hear the other person clearly with the mic set. It cuts all noise above a loud clap. I have been using it for spotting and its absolutely awesome. I usually am about 10+ meters away and on a busy range it will cut out the gunshots without cutting the voices.

So these are fantastic. You do not need the mics if you are going to be standing close to one another. They allow talking and low volume sounds to come through but block hi decibel sounds. The only Down side is If you forget to turn off the hearing it will drain the battery.

As a shooting head set they are great. The radio on the hand has a line of sight use then you can hear the other person.

Walker's website does not have a clear and concise product manual for these devices. If, you go to a range for example and you have to troubleshoot when all the RSOs utilize these headsets, or variations of them. I'm unsure what people are talking about regarding the 'roger' beep every time You talk. I did notice that in my range back, one of the headsets was not properly turned off and the battery drained, quite quickly, which is disappointing. I highly recommend utilizing ProCells (in the grey, with red strip -- packaging). I transitioned my headsets to utilize push to talk. I'm curious if these can be extended if you're on the same channel with additional headsets -- that would be cool. Hopefully the next outing, I can troubleshoot better and determine if it's an issue with me, or the headset. The issue I ran into is, due to the voice activation feature, if you naturally have a low voice or are quiet, it may be hard to pick You up. So you end up just having to talk next to the person, defeating the purpose, partially. Also, the boom mic is quite heavy duty, however, there seems to be a (stupid)ly designed shroud around the edges of the boom mic, which I feel may have interfered with picking up voices. I imagine this is by design and intent if people utilize this for hunting in various forms of weather. Oh well. The response time to cancel out loud noises is fantastic in my limited experience at a range. I give it four stars as, with all things, Walker can improve by having a thorough product manual. Not all of us are tacticool grunts who know the finer points of certain types of devices. Great build quality, for sure beyond that.

The GRMS radio range is limited due to antenna length so no long-distance work. I did buy amazon rechargeable AAA batteries. 5 are needed per headset. They work well with new-styled military helmets.

Upon getting the package today, which I thought would be friday, it was exactly what I had hoped for. Put them on as regular ear muffs work great but the most important part. Turning them on with out the walkie really does wonders. Then when I put the walkie on it was a whole new level. I could hear exactly what I wanted to hear and I could speak freely without the worry of not being able to be heard. This is 10/10 must buy.
