  • If You are A Newbie or Mommy Photographer, This Book is for You
Format: Kindle
It seems that some people live to give rotten reviews on Amazon. The subject matter wasn't deep enough, this person is obviously a new author. Sheesh! The whole point of eBooks is to hear from new authors who can offer us new perspectives into subjects we are looking into. This book definitely accomplishes that. If you are new to photography and not really sure how to start taking quality pictures in your own home this book is a great place to start. I have been a photographer since I was 16 (we’re not going to talk about how long ago that was, but we didn't have digital cameras). I am by no means a pro, but I know enough to be dangerous. I felt that this book would be great to recommend to my friends who always ask me about lighting and setting up a shoot at home. I may be able to push the buttons, but when it comes to explaining the hows and whys of photography I am more worthless than dental floss at a Willie Nelson concert. How to Set Up Photography Lighting for a Home Studio is written in a way that almost anyone can understand and introduces plenty of topics for further study depending on how serious you are about photography. Thumbs up to the author. ... show more

  • Informative and Education on a whole other level!
Format: Kindle
Informative and Education on a whole other level! “How to Set up Photography Lighting for a Home Studio,” by Author Amber Richards is great for beginners and intermediate photographers who are looking to become more adept with t creating the perfect lighting at home. I love taking photographs, and recently it has turned into more than a hobby and rather into a passion. The techniques used and explained in this book are not only fun to apply, but also extremely effective. I found the instructions to be both comprehensive yet easy to follow leaving me with nothing less then amazing results. At times I have to admit that it felt a little frustrating mainly because I did not attain my desired results.. However, with a little time and practice I got the perfect lighting to capture beautiful pictures of my two twin boys. I give it 5 stars and highly recommend to all looking for a way to capture astounding pictures without leaving your home. ... show more

Straight forward basic suggestions for lighting one's subject. Easy directions for simple process. Does not make the process more difficult than it is. Written in easy to read fashion.

  • Good for beginners to achieve decent results
Format: Kindle
The book is targeted at beginners but I did not know this at the time I ordered it (my fault). It covered the essentials well and create a foundation necessary for more advanced and creative studio work. As it achieves its objectives for the target audience at which it is aimed I cannot fault it.

  • Great Intro to Photography Techniques
Format: Kindle
If you're an amateur photographer, this book is for you! Author Amber Richards does a fabulous job of describing the ins and outs of establishing your own home photography studio. She explains the various kinds of lights available, as well as lighting techniques. My favorite part was the last section, in which Richards outlines exact lighting set-ups to allow you to achieve your desired effects. "How to Set Up Photography Lighting..." is a well-written, easy-to-read guide that serves as the perfect intro to semi-professional photography at home. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Use Google, You'll Find More Useful Information Than This Children's Book
Format: Paperback
This is a self-published book, and it shows. I wish I had read all of the reviews first instead of just glimpsing at the star rating, as I figured that so many people couldn't be wrong, but boy was I wrong! To call this a how-to book among other things, doesn't accurately reflect what this is, which is essentially a child's picture book. As other people has said, the author has tried to cheat the system by using a larger font size, double spaces everything, and uses an obscene amount of white space to the point where it honestly felt like it could have been a children's intro to photography book. In addition to that, the writing level is so simple that it is on the level on children's books, and that it's painful to read. There's much better information online and on YouTube that gives you more clear, concise, and useful information on setting up your own studio, than this book could. Finally, to put icing on the top of how bad this book is, there's a final section in it called "Things to Remember", where the author directly asks you leave a review on Amazon, so here I am! ... show more

  • A fantastic resource!
Format: Kindle
As a newbie to the wonderful world of photography I need pretty much all the help I can get. What I loved about this book was all of the fabulous detail into how to go about setting up proper lighting in which to garner the best results. I utilized the information I read here to set up a room in my home and was able to take fantastic, professional looking portraits of my six-year-old that turned out far superior to her school portraits! As a consumer I greatly appreciated how easy this book was to follow and the tips were absolutely informative. “How to Set Up Photography Lighting for a Home Studio” is well worth the price – I highly recommend it! ... show more

  • I thought I could learn more...
Format: Kindle
After reading the book. I didn't learn much as I wanted when purchased the book. The lack of examples, materials, photos, and details information is causing hard to understand when you are new to photography. I thought I could find something like photos of a model on different light set ups. Or even a round-up face person compare to a narrow face person; how the shadow is gonna look like as the book mention. Further, terrible photos which I feel like he copies it from Google and put them at the end of each chapters are completely unrelated to the chapters. Did he do it so he can describe there are some photos to see in the book? This is the worst book you can buy because there are more useful guide articles that you can find easily online with awesome comparison examples. I would not recommend this book to anyone! ... show more
