  • Cloner machine.
I just bought this as a replacement. So yes this is the best brand I've used. My last one lasted 5 year's and I was using it constantly. My clones grow in about 3 weeks. Great size if your just growing small amounts. Worth the value of your money. Just clean it out after every use.

  • Good quality
Just opened and set it up, have not used it yet but overall first impressions are good. It came with a hard clear plastic humidity dome and not the cheaper vinyl one which I'm happy with. They also included an extra filter for the pump and spray nozzles. Since I won't be actually using it for another week or so I can't say anything about the pump itself but I will edit the review once I actually fill it and use it. What I can say is everything fits really well and is tight. Nothing seems like it will be a problem with proper care. From previous experience with a different brand I would recommend replacing the collars at least every 4 cycles of use. Bacteria will be imbedded in there and is impossible to get out which will cause molds to grow. I also recommend adding a air stone to help keep the water oxygenated. A timer for the water pump at 15 minutes on and 15 off will help keep the water temperature in the correct range as long as the ambient temperature is good. As long as the pump works as it should then I would highly recommend this cloner to anyone needing a small good quality home cloning system. Again, once I actually use it I will update this and let you know. ... show more

  • Nice Usable Cloner for the Money!
I think the black plastic material the unit is made of is a bit flimsy but then again there are no real stresses on it and it does what it is designed to do. The clear acrylic cover may leak some fluid down the side of the upper stage of the cloner but it is caught by the ledge at the lower reservoir stage and returned to the reservoir. So this may be why some have claimed that it leaks. It doesn't leak any fluid to the table it is sitting on however. The 2" plugs are not quite that diameter so they fit loosely in the ports -- if they were a bit bigger the fit would be more snug and less nutrient solution would splash up into the upper domed plant area and the cuttings would be held more firmly in the plugs. I think that "as is" the cloner is a bit deficient if that is all you plan to buy... you need to be able to test the nutrient solution pH (important) and adjust it up or down (in my case always downward... the nutrient solution gets more alkaline over time). You also probably don't want your pump running all the time -- it wasn't really designed for that kind of duty-cycle IMHO. In large professional aeroponic operations they run the spray of nutrient for only a few seconds for each minute. I added an interval timer to the setup to set the nutrient spray to 20 seconds every 5 minutes. I don't think you really want the pump to run 24/7. Plus... if the pump runs out of solution since the nutrient solution is used to cool the pump it will fail -- so you have to watch this. Not likely that much water will evaporate even in a month use I didn't note any difference in nutrient level. Here is the timer I ordered: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B096CNZZXW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 pH keeps creeping upward... goes from 6.0 to 7.4 in just 3 days! Getting too alkaline -- so I must continually make adjustments every few days adding about 10cc of distilled vinegar to bring the pH down to 6.0 again. Best to keep the pH about 6.0 for rooting cuttings and it rises to 7.4 rather quickly. Thinking of getting some citric-acid to make a better pH down solution. I believe pH meters are troublesome (need cleaning/recalibration, etc.). So I opted for a litmus-style indicator paper. Using one that is easy to read and within the ranges I am interested here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08MQ4RKS8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Got this Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) meter and tested it with distilled water, spring water, tap water, etc. and I believe it is accurate. Getting 1 PPM TDS for distilled water consistently and testing other waters are consistent as well. This unit has temperature compensation built-in and also can tell you the temperature of your nutrient solution (Using Clonex). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YFQPCDY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also added some LED grow lights that have an interval timer built-in for 4h on 4h off.... 6h... 8h... 12h. Choice of blue-red wavelenghts or white or both. It is important to not have too much light while trying to form roots because the plan will get all the energy it needs from photosynthesis and it won't focus on growing roots. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S3MT5GX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also added a small aquarium air pump and put an air-stone in the bottom of the reservoir to improve root zone oxygenation from local Walmart. I am running this 24/7.... may put it on some kind of interval as well. If the pump pulls in ammonia from the air it will make your nutrient solution alkali -- you don't want that. I am thinking maybe running the air into an ammonia blocking (absorbing) compound... maybe the pH won't keep rising so fast? UPDATE: I made some mistakes and all 24 geranium cuttings died off. Some mold at the top side of the plant. I know I didn't completely wash off the Dawn dish soap I used as a wetting agent nor all of the Clorox and Peroxide I used as a sterilizing agent for the cuttings. Also, I let the pH rise and stay high for long periods of time (before I had pH measuring papers). Also my geranium cuttings were red -- going dormant? They had spent a few cold nights outside. That may have been a set back -- all the red leaves died off and green leaves began to develop. I had added some blue-red-white lighting but think I should have a light source with some UV content to kill off any mold that may want to start. Also, ran the light too long and the plants started generating new leaves whiteout roots (things I have learned). I found this light and it has some 395nm UV content and fits the top of the cloner. I will just sit it on top. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B093BLNT14/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ... show more

  • Better than EZ cloner and Turbocloner!
My first cloner was a EZ cloner I purchased in 2003, this works well with a air pump but has no humidity dome and costs $300. Turbocloner is just to expensive compared to Hortipots even when you add a air pump to the unit. Also their 2 inch collars are so inexpensive you can replace them more frequently and the center hole is much more gentle on the clone. Will be purchasing their 48 and 96 cloners in the future. ... show more

  • Not very effective, definitely not worth the money
Honestly, this thing isn't doing as well as everyone in the comments are saying. I think they are having luck with easy rooting plants. They must also have already had pre rooted plants. I followed the all of the basics, and im finding my plants BARELY start rooting around a week or so in. This honestly is not worth the money, its not much faster at all than just using honey + cinnamon in soil. ... show more
