  • An incredible experience.
Edition: PlayStation 5 Special Edition
I was a big fan of Horizon Zero Dawn last gen on PS4. I played all the way through it twice on PS4 and once more on PC when it released there. I thought the story, gameplay, and graphics were all top notch. Besides some little issues with weird animations, struggling to climb certain areas, and the world sometimes seeming a bit empty, it became my favorite PS4 game and one of my top games of all time. Aloy's journey was one I just was so intrigued by and couldn't wait to see it continued in Forbidden West. It is apparent from the jump that Forbidden West takes the tried and true formula and iterates and improves it in nearly every way. An incredibly detailed world and excellent graphics on the PS5 make it seem more alive than ever. Characters look fantastic and act and move in realistic ways. I've never seen facial animation quite like this. I play in the Performance 60fps mode and the game runs smooth with no stutters and only a few very brief loading screens. The haptic feedback of the DualSense controller is subtle but a nice touch as well. If you're not familiar, this is basically a single player open world action game. You explore the world, meet people and discover new things to progress the story, and fight lots of robots and humans as well. Combat is smooth and fluid, and there is a wide array of weapons and tactics you can use. There is a huge variety of machines to fight and a lot of new ones from the old game as well as returning. The story fleshes itself out over many missions, but there are lots of side activities to conquer as well. Easily a 30+ hour game. Traversing the world takes time on foot but there is a fast travel mechanic as well as mounts and some new options that work similar to those in Breath of the Wild. The story will make more sense if you played Zero Dawn as there are a number of callbacks to that game, however there is a nice recap for you and tons of information online if you didn't play the first game. That being said, I would highly suggest you do play Zero Dawn first, so you can be blown away twice. This is a must own on PS5. All the minor complaints I had of Zero Dawn have been addressed. The only thing this sequel might not have over its predecessor is the same sense of wonder since the story is already somewhat established, but getting to dive deeper into this world is incredible all the way through. I haven't played on PS4, but the developer apparently put in lots of effort to make sure it runs great there as well, so you should have a good experience either way. Side note, you can save $10 if you buy the PS4 version of the game, as it will upgrade to the PS5 version. ... show more

  • A masterpiece, beautiful game, colorful, dynamic, openworld, adventure.
Edition: PlayStation 5 Special Edition
A masterpiece, beautiful game, colorful, dynamic, openworld, adventure. Beautiful and perfect steelbook with disc and DLC. the best version for quality, price and artbook. Perfect delivery, very well packed. But unfortunately I lost the PS4 version, they canceled my pre-order ahead of time. Such a pity. Excellent for collection and for resale. It costs slightly more but it is worth it, instead I do not recommend the collection and regalia versions, there is no disc. ... show more

Edition: PlayStation 5 Special Edition
The huge upgrade to graphics is incredible. The beginning tutorial does make the game start slow but it really picks up! If you’re into action/adventure games with a great story this is a must have! You will have to had played the first game to fully understand this sequel.
