That is not the case at all. The color goes all the way through the bulb. They do get a little warm when all bunched together, but that seems to dissipate when you pull them apart. These string lights are what I would call "tropical" colors. They are not pastel at all, they are bright vibrant colors. Put up as soon as I received them- so far only one bulb has gone out, so am glad that didn't make entire string worthless. They are strung above my kitchen window and I have a garland of colorful silk daisies entwined with them. Each season I change out the lights to correspond to the season/holidays. I loved these lights they were so pretty but they’ve been on for 4 months and one is already completely burnt out. Super disappointing, as I’ve previously had ones that ran for over a year, so I know it’s possible for them to last. Currently searching for longer lasting lights.
