Even knowing the dimensions beforehand, this shelf is still much smaller than you would imagine. For tight, cramped spaces it would be great. For more open spaces, not so much. Fairly easy to put together - though the directions are worthless - but I found a youtube video that made it easy.

This looks GREAT after I was FINALLY able to figure out how to put it together. My brain revisited my college Geometry days when my lack of spacial thinking nearly drove me to Valium! However, it does exactly what I needed it for. I did not rate it for small places, because I feel this is a relative question. How small is your small? Breadbox size compared to coffin size? Or, Smart car size compared to loading van?

Just got this today and put it together. The instructions are hard to follow the shelf is built from the top down rather than the bottom up. It seems quite sturdy even for its small size. The color is okay, but it does not look or feel like real wood. No wobbles.

I Put this together by myself with no issue. I made sure to separate everything in numerical order and put it together according to the step by step pictures; one layer at a time, then assemble to the stabilizing frame one assembled layer at a time (pay attention to frame hole placement). Everything was numbered and instructions were easy to follow (for me). I didn’t need a drill. The alan wrench provided worked just fine. I just made sure the screw was perpendicular to the surface before I slowly started screwing it in. Also, I stopped just after I heard the very first and tiny “crack” of the wood. I will say I did not picture this being as small as it is, but still happy with it as I’m using it for 2oz. acrylic, multi-surface paint storage. It’s actually pretty sturdy too.
