There are a lot of sharp edges on the unit, so you have to be careful when grabbing it. The press plate is nice, but could be better engineered to stay more level while pressing. For me it kept tilting pretty extremely which caused the threaded rod to bind. Great product! All heavy duty and welds seem pretty good too. Press plate is heavy duty too with about a 1/4 thickness! The best part is the fast shipping. Press arrived 6 days early!! Highly recommend product for honey press, grapes, pressing grain ( which is why i bought it), and even pressing cheese molds. Comes with a nylon mesh bag as well. Some sharp edges but less than i was expecting - not a deal breaker in anyway. Price is very decent for the quality you have. This thing will last for life. ... show more

    • It works.
9/27/2020 We are crushing honey comb to extract honey because we are not set up to use a centrifuge, plus much of the comb we are crushing is no longer on frames (i.e., free standing comb) so we looked for a device to crush the comb. This press works well, however be careful because it has lots of sharp edges. The Press is heavy duty but has sharp edges, especially in area of perforated metal wrap. Easy to cut yourself on sharp edges. Suggest you wash and wire brush when you 1st get it. Careful not to run hands over the sharp metal as we found metal burr that produced cuts on my hands. Once cleaned up and demurred, again it worked really well. But again be careful of sharp metal edges. It was relatively easy to clean, however again be mindful of sharp metal edges (especially in perforated metal enclosure when cleaning. Stainless steel construction makes it heavy which is good thing when pressing. I would buy it again but just need to caution people to beware of any metal burrs on it and remove them before pressing honeycomb. Once we press honey out of comb, we heat the pressed comb using a double boiler to remove additional honey and then process the beeswax separately. This press works well for our needs. ... show more

I won't have a chance to use it for another month, but this thing seems to be built industrial tough. As others have said, it's covered with sharp metal burs (sp?), so have something on hand to "sand" it down or you're sure to get a bunch of tiny cuts. If the welding on this was done well, I'm certain this will last for a couple generations. ... show more

    • Little expensive but well built. Very pleased.
Holly Cow, it’s bigger and heavier than I expected. Basket is about size of a 5 gallon bucket. Stand and handle make total height of about 24”. I think will work out great. Should be a great tool on getting honey from comb that can’t be spun. It’s expensive but is well built and should last a long time. ... show more

Its heavy duty and came in a very timely manner. We gathered 21 pounds of honey from our first year Layens Horizontal Hive with it. It has serious suction when trying to pull out the disk, but that's ok because it really squeezes the honey out quite well.
