I'm revising my prior review.... When I first purchased the meta shelving unit I wanted to throw it out the window. I was so frustrated with the black plastic clips that support the shelves. After several days and thousands of attempts I finally got it to work. I highly recommend the manufacturer video. The instructions in the package are horrid. I was angry watching the video because I thought I understood how the concept of the clips worked. I attempted to assemble the shelves again and had much more success. When I first started I understood the plastic clips had together; however, they don't fit together 100%, which was driving me crazy! There is a ridge/lip on the inside of the clips. The trick is to start to push the clips together while simultaneously pulling down so you hear the 'snap.' Then the shelves will fit into the plastic clips opposed to pushing them down, which is exactly what was happening to me and why I wanted to throw the unit out the window. After figuring out how to put this shelf together, it feels like I completed a logic problem. Everything I needed to easily install this was given to me. It actually is as easy as the video above shows it to be. I had to keep attaching the support clips over and over until I figured it out. 1. On the 40 black support clips, you will see the word TOP. Put it on the pole so that the word TOP will be pointing towards the ceiling when you stand the shelf upright. Here is the clue: if you try to put the pole through the shelf and it breaks apart, it's upside down! 2. There is no lip to keep things from sliding off the shelf so don't thread the poles through the shelf that way. 3. Put the shelf on the floor on it's side (like the lady does in the video) when you insert the poles. Knowing about the support clips will allow you to assemble this unit in about 20-30 minutes. This was the EASIEST shelf system to put together I have ever purchased. The directions were a little odd, very few words and pictures that were no help, but the part labels were clear enough and that was all I needed. I find it amusing that so many others who purchased this say they needed a mallet to put this together. I needed nothing at all, and it's all due to the genius design of the shelf parts. The kit comes with 4 short poles and 4 long ones that attach with a coupler bushing that screws in to one end of both, they just twist together with your hands. The feet also just twist in, so that all that is left is attaching them to the shelves. There's a bag of these shelf support clips - this is what is brilliant. The way the clip together, around the legs of the shelving, if you look very closely at them one end is slightly wider than the other once they are snapped together, and this is by design. You can easily measure the distance on each leg because there are indented markings that you can count, and they're all exactly in the same place. You snap a shelf support clip in to place on the desired spot, making sure that the narrower part of the clip is pointed toward the top. Once all 4 clips are in place for the first shelf (always do the bottom one first!!) then you just slide the shelf down on to the clip, and the shelf is snug! Once I got the first shelf in place at the desired height from the ground that I wanted, I set the frame upright so that the empty poles were pointing up. Then I just snapped 4 more clips on at the spot I wanted my next shelf, slid the shelf down onto to the clip, pushing the shelf holder down over that narrowest part of the clip and once it reached the widest part, it is forced to stop in place. I repeated the next two shelves the same way. These shelves don't bow in the middle like plastic shelving does. I got this to store all my paint supplies, leaving the bottom shelf just high enough to store a set of gallon cans below it. Once I figured out the design of those clips, my job was easy. No place in the instructions is it discussed about the clip design (there are no actual words other than the names of the parts) - so it took me a few minutes to notice how, when the clips are snapped together, one end is slightly wider than the other. The ease and sturdiness of these shelves is fabulous. I am a 59 year old woman and was able to put this kit together in about a half an hour, and part of that time was deciphering the funky instructions! I am impressed. I love these, perfect size and height for what I needed. I purchased the 4-Tier Shelving Unit: 250 lbs per shelf with intentions of storing all my gallons of paint, plus my miter saw which will go on the second shelf from the bottom. I was going to go to the Goodwill and just try to find more storage shelves for my craft room, but I saw these and got them on sale. I bought two... It seems so long for these to come!! But, the wait is worth it!! Putting them together was a bit of a challenge for me, as I am disabled and have a hard time maneuvering myself. But, I DID IT BY MYSELF!!! I did try a few steps backwards, but I'm used to doing that with everything. They hold so much, which means I can easily store all of my craft supplies for easy access. They are sturdy and very well made and are not wobbly at all. If you are storing bottles or anything similar, you would need something to lay flat over the wires, so that your items will stand and not fall or lean from the lack of a flat surface. I love them so much that I happened upon another one in the warehouse and ordered it too!! Over time, I'd love to replace all of the shelves in my entire craft room with these. I purchased his shelf as a kitchen pantry shelf. It was easy enough to unbox. I got the directions and set everything in neat piles. Firstly, the directions are mere diagrams. No verbal instructions about which parts, how to snap hem according to the lines in the shelf, or the fact that in order to do it correctly you need to have the shelf on it’s side. I have watched three YouTube videos and followed them verbatim. I have been trying and wasting two hours trying to put this shelf together. The plastic clips snap every time I even try to stand the first shelf up. It’s absolutely terrible, the clips don’t even fit into the shelf. The parts don’t fit with each other and I am extremely disappointed. ... show more
