I don't have a lot of counter space in my kitchen and wanted to get into some baking, so I bought this just for dealing with dough and the like. It comes in two boxes, one for the cart and one for the top. Amazon only tracked one of them and they arrived at different times, so be aware of that. It assembled very easily. Most parts are put together before packing so it's mostly a bunch of large pieces that bolt together. Most parts are bolted and not screwed together, with metal thread inserts on the parts. Wooden dowels already in place for alignment. As someone who assembles furniture for most of my family, a very pleasant experience. Instructions are nice and I didn't even need to read the written parts because the pictures were detailed enough. Drawer slides are already on the side parts, but I had to loosen them to get the drawer pieces together. Cabinet doors already have the hinge parts on them, and they just lock together and have a wide swing on them. Magnetic holders instead of spring hinges is a greatly appreciated addition. The pre-assembled nature of it makes it easy to put together but there are some fitment problems because of that. The spice shelf is loose in its slot but shouldn't cause a problem. the rear center brace is just held in with dowels, and doesn't sit flush with the upper part of the cart. The casters bend a little when screwing them on and don't swivel smoothly once on, but still rolls around OK. The left cabinet door isn't totally aligned at the top, and sticks out a little near the bottom. The hinges are not adjustable. There are little wooden covers that go in the bolt holes outside, but don't fit very well. Barely sit in with finger pressure. Popped them in with a light hammer and one split the wood a little. The top sits a little above the pieces it mounts to, and the pieces bend when you tighten them. Seems like they'd break if tightened all the way although the top is secure. Speaking of the top, it is a nice looking piece of steel. Needed to be cleaned well with some soap and water (it left grey residue on the towels with just warm water after a clorox wipe). The top isn't super resilient, scratched pretty good using the backside of a vegetable knife to separate dough. Manual lists a polishing method using steel wool and flour/talcum powder, I'd try baking soda paste and a rag first. Overall pretty nice, higher quality than I expected off an amazon buy. I bought it on sale, and I don't think I'd buy it for what its list price is. Buy a cheaper cabinet and a cutting/pastry board. ... show more

    • Real wood, well made, easy assembly and it's the perfect size!

I had been searching for three years to find the perfect rolling kitchen cart for extra storage space. Finally I came across this one on Amazon at a price I felt was reasonable. I was hoping the 'real wood' claim didn't turn out to be cheap press board that is so common in DIY assembled furniture. It arrived on time, but I wasn't home to receive it, so I wondered what condition the package would be in once I returned two weeks later. Boy, was I surprised to my delight! I inspected the outside of the box, not a single dent, crunch or scrape. It was like opening a gift box. When I peered in it was so well packed with styrofoam, corner protection and padding it almost took surgical precision to extricate the contents. All wood pieces were also wrapped in styrofoam sheets and clearly marked. Not a scratch or mar. The content/assembly sheet was easy to read and clear. I checked to make sure I had every single piece needed to assemble before I began and found an extra part for each collection of screws and posts. (saved for future needs). I can't say how long it took me to assemble it (I did it alone) because I did it in between my other house chores, but suffice it to say, it didn't take long at all. Everything fit together well with no issues even though I still managed to assemble the drawer wrong. I figured out the issue quickly and disassembling and reassembling took minutes to fix. No sweat. Once I had everything correct I rolled that baby into my dining room corner and stuffed it with all my dog's food, meds, treats, grooming tools inside the cabinet and drawer and still had room to store my wok and instant pot. (I was particularly impressed with the drawer bottom. This drawer isn't going to be bulging and warping or falling out because the bottom is screwed together and the drawer bottom isn't that cheap composite garbage.) As stated in the ad, this unit is made of real wood with an option to order it with a granite top (I ordered the wood top). It is worth every penny and it looks great in the corner between the kitchen and dining room and I can roll it with ease. Excellent unit at a great price. ... show more

We love our new small kitchen island. The stone top is really nice; overall it looks quite nice. I gave it a 4-star because when putting it together, things were not "square." The drawer wouldn't close because it was so slanted that the left side hit the stone top. I was able to take the rolling mechanism off of that side and move it down, making it more level. It wasn't very hard, but some people might not have the simple tools to do it, or just not know what to do. Considering that shipping was free in the low price we paid for this, I'm still happy with getting it, despite its (fixable) flaw. Just a note: the wood "buttons" that cover the screws are a noticeably lighter shade than the body of the island, but, oh well. ... show more

Ok. It's not easy to assemble by yourself. It will take you 3-5 hours because you really have to study the directions. For instance, I put the drawer with the wheels in the wrong place, had to take it apart and switch the sides (make sure the wheels are to the back). Also, there are a lot of parts that need to be screwed together and sometimes the angle is weird and slows you down. Don't really tighten all of the screws until the end. Then once you do that, it really does give ample extra storage as you can see. The drawers slide well and the doors open and swing with ease and stay shut.
