The product arrived in a box that appeared to be in perfect condition. There was no damage whatsoever to either the Amazon shipping box or the product packaging itself. In fact, it looked like it had been packaged carefully. However, once I opened it, I noticed a scuff on the side of the unit. When plugged in, it sounded like it was grinding and appeared to be stuck. The app repeatedly failed to complete the update process despite multiple attempts. I also could not get the unit to reset according to the instructions, either through the app or by following the specified button sequence on the device itself. I was hesitant to spend $300 on this as an anniversary gift for my wife, and unfortunately I should have trusted my instincts. I've generally not been a fan of HoMedics products, and this experience only reinforced that opinion. ... show more

The Homedics Drift 10” Sand Table in White Ash is hands down one of the most stunning and relaxing pieces of home decor I’ve added to my space. Watching the automated metal sphere silently trace intricate, flowing patterns in the sand is completely mesmerizing, soothing, and incredibly calming after a long day. What Makes It Amazing: Visual Appeal & Quality: The White Ash wood finish looks sleek, modern, and high-end. The built-in ambient LED lighting accents the sand patterns beautifully, turning a simple desk accessory into a captivating art piece. Relaxation & Quiet Operation: It runs almost silently, making it ideal for a home office, bedroom, or living room where you want to unwind without distraction. Where It Needs Improvement: The reason this gets 4 stars instead of 5 comes down entirely to the companion app. The hardware itself is a 10/10, but the app needs a major overhaul. It frequently lags, feels clunky to navigate, and can be frustratingly glitchy when trying to sync lighting themes or load new pattern designs. It feels like software that was rushed compared to such finely crafted hardware. Bottom Line: If Homedics revamps and optimizes the app, this would easily be a flawless 5-star product. Let's address the elephant in the room. The app is rated extremely poorly. Like... 1 star at best on the Apple app store. That being said, I have not encountered any of the problems detailed in the reviews. This is an extremely cool toy to have on your dresser to give you a zen moment. It's nice to stop and watch it work for a while and even cooler that you can set the speed via the app. I unboxed this unit and got it ready in a matter of minutes. The app set-up didn't take much longer, although I did have to register an account... which is BS. I found that I was able to connect and download new patterns to the device easily and reliably. The only thing that I found it was missing was significant control over the lighting in the device. Using the button on the back of the unit, you are able to change the lighting into dynamic, multi-colored modes. However, that is inaccessible via the app. You can only set static colors for the whole ring. You can't even set it to change static colors! That being said, it was very easy to upload a schedule to this device and have it run for a fixed time every day. Overall, I would say that it's a really fun toy and nothing more. The price is extremely steep, but if you can find it for a significant discount, it's totally worth it for the novelty and fun factor. ... show more
