Even though the box took some hits in transit, the pieces were well packed with a lot of styrofoam and cardboard, so other than one tiny nick in the front of the base, all the parts were included and in tact. The nick is tiny and will easily be patched with a little white paint. There are a lot of parts to this but the small parts where labeled and this made it easy to find what you needed to assemble it. My advice, lay everything out and take your time. The instructions were pretty clear to me since I have assembled a lot of flat pack furniture. Most of the project was done without an electric drill for fear of stripping anything by over tightening. And it was built mostly by one person, a little help from hubby for some of the assembling where two hands made it easier - but this could be assembled by one person. For the price, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality which was even better than I was expecting. As a start to upgrading our kitchen over the long run, this piece actually looks like a more permanent kitchen cabinet than one on coasters, and perfect size for a smaller kitchen. ... show more

I bought this island for my small kitchen. The island looks very good and it's sturdy. There were tons of small parts and some of the instructions aren't clear. Took my husband a while to get it together. The only two bad things are the top is laminate and a couple of the corners got damaged on the first day. And if you're sensitive to smells like I am there is a strong chemical smell. Hoping it will go away in a week or so. I have the windows open. It took 2 hours to put together by myself. I used a screwdriver at first, but then switched to my drill. It came in two boxes and the directions were very clear and easy to understand. It was packaged nicely and no damage on any pieces. This island holds a lot!

I absolutely love how the instructions were pictures so we were not confused with the parts. The island was so easy to assemble. All the parts and hardware were in great condition. One person can actually assemble it but it's a good idea to have two for larger pieces. It's very study and so cute.     • Disgusting & Dangerous Smell on Unboxing - Avoid if Sensitive to Chemicals

If you don't have an outdoor space to let it offgas, have pets, and / or are sensitive to chemicals, I'd avoid this if at all possible. On opening the box, I was blasted with a really strong smell of paint and / or veneer. It's been offgassing with a fan aimed at a window for an hour now, and the smell is still extremely strong; I've started to get a headache, and I'm concerned for the health of my cat. We live in a small apartment with an open kitchen design, and thought this would work well for at least a temporary solution, but I'm not sure I want to even try and put it together with how bad this smell is. As others have noted, the entire thing is particle board, though otherwise seems fairly sturdy. If you can handle the smell, go for it. I'm very seriously considering returning it. ... show more
