This is by no means as sturdy as a Metro brand wire rack, however, it gets the job done. When the box arrived, I counted all of the pieces (all there) and started assembling the shelf. Two of the pole segments were dented just enough to make screwing the connectors in impossible. I was able to straighten them out with a pair of pliers and all was well again. For what I was doing, I had every intention of only using four shelves since I had my filing cabinet on the bottom. I had to finangle the setup a little bit to get it to work for me, but in doing so, I realized that the clips that hold the shelf up weren't staying put on one of the poles. I got it to work since none of the shelves are holding an extreme amount of weight. It's a good height standing at 59" and fits in the space exactly how I intended it to and fit everything that I needed to on the shelves. For what it costs, it's a decent shelf that should last me quite a while. Im the type that can get IKEA furniture to last years (I'm working on my fourth? fifth? year on my bookshelf and tv stand including two moves in those years). Needless to say, I have a feeling this shelf will stick around awhile. I would say as long as you don't put anything super heavy on it (it says 50lbs, but I question that) you should be ok. I chose this item for the dimensions and the color choice. Leveling feet are a nice touch and assembly was simple. But while I was placing my items on the shelves I noticed that a couple have a slightly concave shape. Items I place on these shelves tend to lean in towards the middle. I have no experience with similar shelving but conclude that this is a great bargain for a truly useful piece of furniture, which now stands between my bathtub and sink. I almost bought an over-the-toilet tacky thing like I see all too often, but this unit's simple black steel elegance is exactly what I needed. Besides lots of towels of course, it holds many other things including a few bulky items. Don't get one of these for storing concrete blocks, but rest assured this unit is well engineered, sturdy, and strong. Except for small parts used to attach the shelves to the pipe-like uprights (assembly was easy) there is no visible plastic--and no fake wood. One of the shelves arrived bent, probably because of a problem in transit, and HollyHOME was most generous in taking care of the unfortunate situation. ... show more

It's ok. Somewhat easy. The steps are easy, not hard to put together; it's just faulty made. When trying to put together the inner grooves/ridges don't match making it unstable. Already returned the first one this was the replacement. Asked my friend to solder it so I would be able to use it.

    • Flimsy and very hard to assemble.
This shelf system is made of some cheap metal that bends way too easily when assembling. As such, I can’t keep the metal poles to stay straight or the shelf to withstand the assembly process of pressing them against the plastic locks. Speaking of those ‘locks’... they don’t stay put and pop off or slide off when assembling. Everything on this shelf screams cheap and flimsy. Simply put, it is a nightmare to assemble and is so cheap that I don’t think it can carry much weight. I should have read the reviews, but I was too excited to see a shelf in this size.
