  • Poor quality, arrived defective, don’t buy this
I wanted a smaller accordion that would fit in the overhead luggage bins on an airplane. This arrived in defective condition. The reed block inside was loose and rattling around, and kept the bellows from closing. The bellows leak air badly. Brass reeds were bent and needed replacing. The voice keys weren’t working. I was traveling and couldn’t return it for warranty repair. Ended up spending $150 on repair and tuning. The repair tech, and my instructor, say the bellows have lots of small leaks. Hohner should be ashamed. Not worth the money. ... show more

  • Good
I bought this and one of the bass reed valves was stuck open, but I exchanged it and the next was perfect.

  • Great Seller, Defective Instrument - times 2
I will praise the Seller. The Hohnica 1304-RED is not quality tested before packaging in China. I believe Hohner Accordions are all built in China with German supervision. It is beautiful and loud (see the other Reviews about the issues with volume). My first purchase had no Air Release Button, the bass buttons did not function correctly and the Reed Selector button malfunctioned. So I returned it and ordered another one. On arrival I tested it. All was working fine (Bass is louder that the Treble keys). After about an hour of play the Reed Selectors stopped selecting the White Button. I contacted the seller and they informed me that I was the only one that had Issues with the September 2019 Shipment they received. Hard to believe reading the other Reviews. I am going to buy a used one locally, that I can test drive. I selected this instrument to play at songwriter circles and open mic gatherings (piano are not mobile and electrical instruments are shunned). $600 for a defective new instrument? ... show more

  • Hohner Accordion and its evaluation
The accordion works great. Even though it was manufactured in China, people wishing to buy this one, should not worry. Many items are outsourced to China for manufacturing. It is the high quality instrument for beginner and advanced player. Thank You for a quick delivery! I strongly recommend this seller! ... show more

  • Broken, unusable.
The item arrived with half of the keys not working and a loose screw and loose panel. It is disappointing that Amazon is only offering a refund that takes 30 days, not a replacement.

  • Enjoy learning on this - then buy a higher quality accordion
I'm in my 50s and this is my first accordion. I got this because I wanted to learn an instrument that was more portable than a piano (!) and I thought that I could put years of childhood piano lessons to good use. I'm pleased with the mix of basic functionality and a few "extra" features (more left-hand buttons) that I can use as my skills progress. The instrument arrived 5 days after I placed my order. It's beautiful! There are a few fit and quality issues that my instructor and I noticed with my first lesson. I am an average-height woman with a bustline. I anticipate replacing the right shoulder strap, as it doesn't lengthen sufficiently to allow ideal positioning of the instrument when seated. Also, the left hand strap is a bit tight for ideal left hand position (even though my hand and wrist are slim, and I have adjusted the strap almost to the point of disconnecting it). There is a small leak somewhere in the bellows - if I can locate it, I hope to seal it with duct tape. If I press the E one octave above "middle E" more than very lightly, it also pulls the F next to it, sounding both notes (sounds horrible). None of these issues is so bad that I can't use the instrument as a learner, but I wish I'd known about them before selecting this instrument. Also - in an attempt to fill out the Accordion Registration Card, I needed to contact Hohner (had to find the telephone number online) to find out where to find the serial number on my instrument. I was told that, for this type of accordion, no serial number was issued or needed. So I completed the remainder of the self-addressed card, affixed postage and mailed it off. The card came back in the mail as "not deliverable - unable to forward." I genuinely hope that the issues I already have identified represent the only problems I'll have with the accordion, and it seems to me that Hohner doesn't stand behind the quality of these made-in-China learner instruments. One more thing - I believe one of the other reviewers also remarked that the bass is noticeably louder than the treble with these instruments. This also has been my experience. I hope that I will get good enough with this instrument that I can invest in a higher quality accordion! ... show more
