  • Maybe My New Favorite Game Next to Spiderman
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard Edition
I really like this game 🎮. I like it a lot. Way .more than I ever thought I would for several reasons. I thought I wouldn't love the game because: 1. I'm not a Harry Potter fan. 2. Open world games are not my favorite 3. I didn't expect the astestics to be dissimilar from the movies. Let me tell you, I was wrong. This game is absolutely beautiful. It really deserves an award. There is painstaking and thoughtful ornamental architecture and decoration in every corner and inch of the castle. The experience is magical, and the environment outside of the castle is breath taking. This is one of a few games that I know of in which almost all NPCs are unique characters. Yes, there are some antagonistic elements that are repeated specifically for fantastic beasts. However, every witch and wizard you see throughout the game pocesses their own unique identity and personality. This game also does a really great job of engaging the player in side quests and making the player yearn to explore. I, personally, am not a fan of side quest. I often see them as unnecessary and distracting from the overall story. Not in Hogwarts Legacy. Even though the side quests do not always add to the story, they do not pivot away from it in any way. Each side quests incentives the player with something of value whether it be a new spell, a potion, or galleons. The game, also, give Hogwarts new life because it allows the player to make Hogwarts their own. The player does not have to be a character with some pre-construction such as Harry Potter, and it's not following one of JK Rowling's stories that was already written. The story instead answers the question. What if you (yeah, you) were a character at Hogwarts? Who would you be, what would you do, what House would you be in, and what would you look like? The only thing that could make this game better is if this game was turned into a minecraft or fortnite like world that multiple players could spawn into, so that you could interact with your fellow players in the world of Hogwarts. If you're on the fence about buying this game or not a Harry Potter fan, buy this game. It's not good. It's excellent. My girlfriend hates Harry Potter. She thinks it's boring. She really likes this game! ... show more

  • The ultimate experience for every fan of HP!
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard Edition
Hogwarts legacy is hands down every harry potter fan’s utopia and dream come true! This amount of detail and beauty this game consists is iff the charts. First of all let me tell you that wide open world games arent my main thing, but there are a few exceptions (ghost of tsushima, death stranding, god of war) and Hogwarts legacy is definitely one of them exceptions! The things that you can do are endless, and everything is straight fleshed out from the Rowling books and movies. I initially believed that this game might stress the hell out me, since I expected it to be super open world, with lots and lots to do for 100+ hours and so forth. However, I find myself to feel otherwise anytime I play it. The game itself is very and I mean VERY relaxing! By means of the main quests, story plot, environments. During your walkthrough, you will find that you have an incredible variety of everything, and its always going to take you to “go with the flow” kind of thing. In other words, you want feel bored doing like a chore, or anything on that end. Literally the game changes subject, and material in every little thing you might do! From potions class, to learning spells, from visiting hogsmeade and have a walk to buy your broomstick, to exploring caves and dungeons while fights dark wizards. Wow! And thats just a fraction of said variety. You can craft, your own potions, herbs, make friends from other classes, travel across the world map with your broom <<and more ;) >> and help fellas in the wizarding world for some good rewards. The only downside on this game, is that it can be really frustrating on the inventory/gear management…and I mean thats really a pain in the butt for quite some time in the game. Allas you do the merlin trials (which I suggest you do first thing) you will constantly have to get rid of cloth items through your gear menu, in order to accept the ones you will get from chests - and believe me, you will keep running into all sort of chests literally everywhere you are. At this point I want to give the game a 9/10 for its tremendous variety in both gameplay, and content. It will probably take some time till I get to finish everything on this, so I might have to come back and update this. ... show more

  • Beautiful but Boring
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard Edition
This is a beautifully made game. If you have never played video games before or just plain love the Harry Potter-verse, you will likely enjoy this game to some extent. The story is okay and the way they have made spells work is well-done. But that is as far as I can go to compliment this game. In the end, it is extremely shallow and boring. You are supposed to affect the outcome of the game with your choices, but those choices make no difference whatsoever. You can be as evil or as good as you want and it will not affect the outcome. Nothing is challenging. There are no difficult puzzles, no difficult battles, and very little variation throughout the game. I played on the hardest possible level my first (and only time) through, and was bored by the lack of challenge presented to me. If you are a 100%-er, stay away from this game. Completing the whole map will have you rolling on the floor in agony as there are many, many, many, MANY redundant and insanely simple challenges all over the map that take forever to get to and hardly seem worth it in the end. I am honestly surprised at how many people like this game. I wonder if they wrote their reviews in the first few hours of the game. Those first few hours are great, because the world is beautiful and it is exciting to be in the Harry Potter-verse. But after the initial excitement wears off, you will find yourself toiling through annoying, boring, shallow gameplay and getting more and more anxious to finally reach the conclusion so you can put it away on a shelf and never pull it out again. ... show more
