I'm not some huge Harry Potter fan. I did read the books with my kid years ago, and of course we saw the movies. I had no intention of getting the game though since it's not my normal type of game. But with all the bruhaha on social media about it, I thought I'd step in and buy it. Graphics for the PS5 are outstanding. Game play - I'm getting used to it. Downside is I was in the middle of a few other things from other franchises, so I had planned on only dedicating a bit of time to this at the moment until I finish up what I was in the middle of. But since I was in the middle of something I was doing not for the first time, I've figured I'm going to stick with this now and push through. This won't be the normal first person shooter. Lots of dialog, lots of cut scenes. You do have the option to skip them, but at least for the first playthrough, I'm letting them go completely through. I've never been much of a fan of the third person point of view, but it's workable here at least. The magic system is pretty well laid out. Attack, defense, and individual things like light and such all revolve around the right trigger and other options you can do at the same time with the action buttons. It will take a bit getting used to but at least so far the layout seems to be easy to work with and to remember. The graphics for the magic is pretty seamless and smooth, done nicely. So far, no bugs, glitches, or other problems. I'm running it on the highest option for visual quality on the PS5 and it's been working just fine. There's going to be so much here to delve into, even for someone like me who only had a passing interest. I'm kind of glad there was such a controversy about this, otherwise I would've missed what appears to be one of the more engrossing, in depth games I've played in a long time.

Couple hours I was like maybe this game is kind of slow but the more I got into it I realize that it is a humongous game with so much effort and thought and care put in for HP fans. The amount of detail in this game makes me literally wonder how there’s people in this world that are trained in this field… because not only do they have to be trained at being able to transplant their ideas into a playable game , but I imagine the work has to be so tedious and probably requires a lot of mental fortitude with deadlines and such. How do people even learn how to do this?! It feels like witchcraft lol which is fitting . Needless to say, This game is incredible and so are the hardworking devs. The only negative I have to say is that I pre-ordered well in advance, and Amazon did not deliver on time. The day before it was supposed to arrive at my house, the expected delivery date had changed to like a month past the release date. But luckily they were able to refund me and i still got to keep my hardcopy game without having to pay twice (I had ended up ordering the digital game directly from PlayStation because my hardcopy didn’t come) ,so ….Amazon did right by me and I have no complaints.

The game has been fantastic. The graphics are good, the game is huge and 20+ hours in I have more to do than I know what to do with. Between growing herbs, making potions, capturing magical beasts, weaving magical clothing and learning even more spells I barely have time to do the main quests. The storyline is great, the world feels like it should, the characters are varied and inclusive and the biggest issue I've had is doing the "just one more thing before I quit for the night problem". I'm exploring the castle, the countryside, numerous hamlets, hidden caverns, crumbling castles all while fighting dark wizards, poachers, beasts, goblins and undead. Tons of different minigames, flying, a perfect transmog system and multiple levels of relationships (no romance). Is it game of the year? Probably not. Is there a great chance it will be in the top 10 and maybe top 5? Yes. First game I've bought in a long time that I didn't regret paying full price for. Couple things to watch out for. First is to sign up for your house and wand through the WB site before you start if you want to. It can't be changed once picked. Talent points are permanent and can't be changed. You will not have enough to get everything. Also, make sure you read the case inserts and actually use the codes to redeem any cosmetics or the Dark Arts pack. They don't get installed automatically.

Yes, I am a huge HP nerd so of course I was really excited for this game but that aside, this game is amazing. I was a hard core WoW gamer in the early 00s so my expectations were high for this game and it did not disappoint. The main quest line is well laid out to build your skills, it is challenging (for a PC gamer like me to battle on PS5 there was a learning curve) and the numerous side quests will keep you busy for hours. The homages to the original HP content was heartwarming for a Potterhead like me and it was nice to see little Easter eggs here and there. I did get a tad emotional exploring the gamekeepers hut which seemed like it was just waiting for Hagrid. All in all, I love it and I think it has a lot to offer anyone, Potterhead or not.

The game is awesome, let’s just get that out of the way first. Immersive, beautiful environments, it’s what ever Potter head has been wanting. However the Amazon preorder process has been absolutely abhorrent. Amazon basically guaranteed something they couldn’t deliver and they knew that given how many negative reviews have been about this process. The lack of caring from customer service agents was readily apparent, one even canceled my order when I said NOT to and that was just the beginning. I should’ve just ordered through game stop and I will do exactly that moving forward with any new title because Amazon has completely dropped the ball and consumer confidence on pre orders. Please stop over promising and under delivering.
