  • had to do a few mods
Color: Blue Style: Shorty HCT-SH-BL
Its good after some work. Had to file down two frets a little, I changed the strings and had to tie the strap on the end of the neck and not clip to the centre body mount. A lot of people complained that the neck is too heavy for the body, well yes, the body is very small. Just tie the strap to the end of the neck, no more heavy neck problem. ... show more

  • My own purple haze....
I love this little guitar. I did however replace the pickup with an EMG 89R, Grover 406C Rotomatic Mini Self Locking Machine Heads, Graph Tech ResoMax NW2 Wraparound Bridge with String Saver Saddles and Dunlop SLS1031N Straplok® Dual Design Strap Retainer System... The guitar has plenty of body to hold onto, the new bridge allow's for resting your palm a bit. Setting the pick-up low prevents the guitar from being too bright and having to play near the neck, but too low and it's muddy. Action is fantastic. Very light and easy to bend. Super Slinky's work well but 1-3 as Nickel and 4-6 as M-Steel have a unique blend. Not sure why, but all experimental. Nickel would be best choice if I had to make one today. Finish of the guitar is fantastic. I feel I got lucky. The neck is very basic, the rosewood has imperfections and flaw's (actual hairline grain cracks) but it's smooth and plays fast. Since this is only a color, I would imagine the other colors are equal in quality. This guitar made a great base to build from. ... show more

  • Great Entertainment when you're stuck in the airport!
Color: Blue Style: Shorty HCT-SH-BL
I'm a total newb that needed something to practice on is the reason I purchased this guitar. It travels well on a plane.....just make sure to ask the flight attendant to put it on top in the overhead bin or in a closet. I've managed to manipulate the tone and volume to get a nice, creamy, clean tone just the way I like. It came packaged in a double box and a case with plenty of plastic and bubble wrap. The guitar was very clean and unblemished on arrival. I guess what you call the setup was very good, because there were know buzzing frets, no sharp edges, and it stays in tune fairly well. The neck was also perfectly straight. The one thing that I found very frustrating in the beginning was figuring out how to get this guitar to balance in my lap. the neck has a gravity pull that defies Mother Earth. I purchased a strap, but that doesn't help the diving situation. Aside from that aggravation, I received a ton of pleasure for the money. P.S. Thanks for the picks and the stickers! ... show more

  • Small, but could be awkward to play
Color: Blue Style: Shorty HCT-SH-BL
For traveling this is an awesome size, but the configuration and shape of the body makes the neck very heavy and not something you can easily play by a camp fire.

  • The neck is heavier then the body makes it difficult to play.
Looks great ! It sounds great! Light weight, but severe neck dive. I bought it to practice with rather then a practice neck. Short of throwing the guitar out the window I have my guitar strap hooked through a carabiner in a belt loop on my stretch pants with a cloth bag full of weights or door hinges or something to weight the body down to keep it from neck diving. I tried various things even attached wheel weights it did not work. leaning back in the sofa is the only way to really play it without holding the neck up. I truly believe the creator(s) of this guitar did a poor job and do not recommend it to anyone. don't waist your money. ... show more

Beautiful & sturdy. The light weight and small body make this an easy guitar to manipulate if you’re someone who has hand or wrist issues/disabilities.

  • Pretty much what I expected
Color: Blue Style: Shorty HCT-SH-BL
I saw a fellow musician playing one of these about 10 years ago and was intrigued. He'd obviously had a lot of work done to his, but I decided a few years ago that I needed a travel guitar to take to work, as opposed to hauling a full size model back and forth. This model arrived new (static cling markers still attached to the pickup and backs of the tuning pegs. The strings that it came with felt a trifle rubbery, so I installed a heavier string, which made a serious difference. One note of importance; it's easiest to play this guitar with a strap on, so that you can wrap your right hand around the tailpiece, but the strap knob placement makes it difficult for a strap to stay on. This in itself isn't a biggie for me, since I always install a straplock system. Plugged in, it sounds trifle tinny, which is to be expected from such a small bodied guitar. All in all, I'm quite happy with this purchase, and provided that you're not looking for a "go to" guitar, you'll enjoy it for what it's worth. ... show more
