I tried to use only my hair for the bun to wrap the hair pieces around. My natural hair, in a hair wrap would point out through the hair pieces. Everything looked ugly and unnatural. I have a mini bun and a large bun that snaps. ( I bought it at Walmart some years ago.) I wrapped the bun around my pony tail, and snapped it and added another elastic to pull my hair in. I then added a hair piece and my hair looks ok now with the hair extension. Much more elegant as it looks neater. I wish I had ordered a darker hair color. My hair is sun bleached at the ends and darker at the roots. To get a decent pony tail, I turned my head upside down, as I leaned over my lapped and I brushed it as tightly as I could. I have not tried to wash or style the pieces with any heat. I need to read again to see if that is an option. I was super pleased with this set. Now, I dye my hair so I was alittle nervous buying this online. My dyed hair is more like a light ash brown, but once it fades and my grays come out, it's more like dark ash blonde. These match perfectly. PERFECTLY. I love the straight one, but I dont like to show my natural hair with that one, so I wear my pony low. The the straight hair covers my natural hair perfectly. All the others show my natural hair, but the color is almost identical. I wore a different one everyday and it's hard to say which one I like the most. 2 of the buns are like 'wedding' updos. I did wash them just with regular shampoo and conditioner, and hung them overnight. They are soo soft, easily can be combed. And so far, I haven't had much loss of hair either. Once you know how to get your real hair up into a secure bun adding these hair pieces is easy. My real hair when in a tight bun is thick enough to just slip hair piece over the bun. I received so many compliments when I wore these. No one knew it was a hair piece, except my aunt who knew I would never take the time to curl and fix my hair like that. The hair band they sent to put your real hair up with is to weak to hold my real hair into anything. I have no use for the eyelashes and the hair clip they sent with it. I buy these every few months because they start to fall apart; but I love them anyway! It gives just the right amount of fullness to my hair when I put it in a messy bun. I have a terrible time finding a good matching color but each time I need to return/exchange it I haven't had any problems.
