  • great for communication with phone and other riders.
Loved it for phone calls while riding. Easy to use. the blue tooth music seems a little quiet. but can still hear it over road noise. seems a little tinny for music sound . maybe newer versions can add more base and louder music volume. but for hands free works great. the only problem i had with it was the helmet clip was easy to break. made of cheap plastic. suggest an upgrade to maybe metal clip to hold it to helmet. other than that the charge lasts for a while at least 3 or 4 hours of solid riding and music. shipping was fast and included all you need to mount it and use it right out of the box. recommend for Anyone who rides long distances. ... show more

  • Works great, just not with the features I expected.
I know - assumptions. But first, I have to say the installation in my HJC helmet was super fast and a perfectly clean fit. I mostly ride solo or two up, so the intercom was less important to me; I was looking for easy hands free ways to make calls or hear and be able to respond to texts verbally using Siri's announce feature. I should have researched more before buying but was in a time crunch. Only after installing, upgrading firmware, and adjusting settings did I learn "Hey Siri" or any other Siri functionality doesn't work. I assume "OK Google" is the same. This unit responds to "Hey Sena", and there's a very limited (in my opinion) number of commands you can give. Like speed dialing one of 4 phone numbers that you have to program beforehand. I can't speak to the intercom functionality, but the lack of smart integration is really a deal breaker. My wife rides with me much more now, so I'm picking up a couple of Cardo units that do interact with Siri or Google and are at the same price point. ... show more

  • Decent sound
Good Bluetooth headset. Controls are a bit convoluted and take some getting used to, but has decent sound and a lot of features for the price.

  • Buy a Sena says everyone I ride with...
I have had plenty of road experience with both Sena and Scala rider for several years. I have a Q3 scala rider that I have had for over 5yrs. and have only had a slightly poor execution of some of the features. 99% of the unit is great also a Sena SM5. Small unit used very sparingly on another helmet I have. So with this said, whatever I choose to replace it with or in this case, forced to use because the helmet I like comes ready for the 20b, has to be at least as good if not better than the Q3. First, I don't like the battery pack on the helmet at all. This is a preference that I think most people will either love or hate. Needing to leave my helmet while I charge my unit sucks. It get over 100 deg in the summer here and if my battery is low I have no choice but to leave the helmet to charge. The connector is inside the helmet and is very hard to plug and unplug, It would have been better on the side or back with a water proof plug like all the other units have. I like the option of removing it and charging the unit while I ride if necessary or while parked to extend the use time, as for now I have to carry a portable battery pack and plug it in and leave in the helmet. We recently went on a 1900 mile trip of wide open range and had nothing but problems connecting with the other Sena products and the sound quality was not the best most of the trip. I got really tired of hearing, "intercom connection failed". The app is useless. It kept telling me my headset is not connected while I am literally on the headset. Very frustrating for the price point on this unit. We tried to reset and reconnect all of the riders, there were 4 of us. Still not very good. The music sound quality is a decent but not very loud at all. if you place the speakers in the helmet without the spacers, that leaves about a 1 in gap between the speaker and your ears. Needing to run it on high volume for several hrs. kills the battery. I struggled to get anywhere near a full days use out of my battery, and when i was connected with the other riders it died a lot sooner. It is stylish and looks great on my helmet but for almost $300, I expected a lot more from Sena. The sound features are weak, I am used to a sensing device on my Q3 that increases volume when I increase speed to keep the sound at a level that is comfortable. This unit seems to have a similar feature but only works ever so slight and at strange times, not when I needed it most. Mic quality is good, I asked the other riders how my intercom sounded when it did work and they all said very clear, so I guess that is some good news, when it worked. Not sure about the range, with wide open roads though Utah and Nevada, distance quality was very noticeable, I'd say a half mile at the most was the true distance test, any more than that and it had a tough time connecting. Using the buttons was a challenge with riding gloves on, I use pretty thin Mechanics style gloves and had a hard time managing the multiple button features. Pressing the up and center buttons to turn on the unit seems flakey. Larger + and - would have been easier to feel and use. It turns off real easy but I had a hard time turning it on while riding. Same two buttons but it did not seem to work as easily. Never had a chance to go through the radio channel settings or some of the other features like the VOX features due to the frustration that was building as I used this unit. I am going to reset everything one more time and try to get this thing to work, I really want to like this unit because it is integrated into my helmet and install was pretty easy. Only time will tell if I keep this unit or opt for a different brand or style. As for now, I am not a very happy customer. Sorry Sena. I might be going back to Scala rider, at least then I can unhook my unit and charge it safely without having to leave my helmet. ... show more

  • Satisfied overall
Connects easily. Intercoms fine with my fellow riders. The range isn’t near what it advertises. While I understand line of sight & how wireless coms work, one car between us & it was so spotty we couldn’t chat. Batteries were full & there was no space between us except the car. Otherwise I love the thing. ... show more

  • Install and setup are not terribly hard
Installed in an F70 helmet. If you are mechanically inclined and can read a drawing you won't have problems. Find and watch YouTube videos for help with setup. Be patient, it will all work.

  • Love it
Well worth the additional cost over the next model. I have answered calls on the highway and people had no clue I was on my bagger.

  • Perfect Comms for HJC
Battery lasts a really long time as advertised. If you have a HJC helmet, this is the perfect setup, fairly easy installation and the sound quality is pretty great. If you're planning on getting a Comm setup for your HJC helmet, I highly recommend this one.
