Purchased this for my 12 year old son who is fascinated with metal, design, science etc. for his 12th birthday. Obviously adult supervision is required but this set is a perfect & affordable kit. We have done around a dozen melts total with Aluminum pop tabs, zinc & Copper pennies (for educational purposes only; NOT for profit!). The cucible that came with the set shows no signs of breaking down. We did not treat it with anything before use. The mold that came with it is also still in like new condition. Very happy with this purchase!

Works well however...What they don't tell you is that to achieve maximum temperature a step up/down transformer is required. You won't achieve melting points without one!
