Last year the vet told me my cat was fat and he had to lose weight. He was at 18lbs and I was told to get him to 13lbs, which I thought was unattainable. However I decided to try to take the vets advice for my cats health. Vet recommended this brand and type of food for my cat since he could eat more, with less calories. My cat has never been particularly picky, so he has no problems eating this food. I took him back to the vet a year later and he lost three pounds!! It works if 1) your cat can stand to eat it 2) get an automated feeder that measures it out perfectly and 3) follow the feeding guidelines on the bag, even if they seem a little harsh. Cats hide a lot, but even I can see how much losing the weight has helped him feel better. We are keeping at it this year to see if he can kick the last two pounds. I started this brand, and type in particular, because all of my 4 cats were getting tubby. They had been eating Iams, but gaining weight. This Science Diet stuff claims to help them loose weight. They might be almost undetectably thinner. I assume weight loss in indoor cats is always slow. But all 4 happily crunch on this stuff. And it has adorable heart-shaped pieces. I also love the easy velcro closure. The only con would be that it's a bit pricey, but I assume/hope that means the ingredients are premium. ... show more

I have some older chonky butts that have some weight to lose, so I got this for them to try. This product is one of two weight loss dry foods that I go back and forth between for them to support their weight loss goals. The kibble pieces are a bit bigger, almost like the size of cocoa puffs cereal bits.
