The bag is not received full, it's more like half full. My Maltese is ok with it, but not great. It is fresh. It has a strong smell to it. She has been eating it for a few weeks and as long as I mix it with something she'll eat it. I guess she would be picky.

We recently adopted a small dog and the food they said he was eating was actually for large dogs, so I decided to start giving him this and he loves it. When I got him, he was a little thin and so I was hoping he would gain a little weight. I think since these pieces are so small he has an easier time eating them so he's filled out nicely. (We have also been giving him many treats and canned food, I just want to make it clear I do not think this would fatten up a dog that is not lacking in weight) The bag is 100% resealable and so the food stays fresh longer. It has high-quality ingredients that I feel good about giving him. I'm glad I found this little pieced dog food because he's really enjoying it and seems happy when he's eating it. ... show more

I'm very disappointed in this product. Have been buying buying for a couple years, finally noticed a little weight drop in my small dog, then received a text they were replacing one product with another. It's the same bag of food but they dropped the weight 2.5 lbs and raised the price by $7 ! Looking for comparable product now. ... show more

Although we can't personally sample this item, our picky little dog took to it pretty fast (worked it into her current food over about 3 days). She has been gaining a lot of weight and was started on thyroid pills, longer walks around the block and this food. This food appears to be our new permanent food as it's lower calorie and she is willing to eat it. Double WIN! ... show more

The quality of this dog food is decent, not a small bag, lasts a long while. The size of it is pretty small, compares to the puppy food size. Easy for the dogs to eat. Our cavachon seems to like it, has no problem eating this. I like that the bag has velcro at the opening so it’s convenient to open and close at feeding time. ... show more

    • Great Size Pieces, But Be Prepared For Extra Bathroom Time!

Our 3 pups have been on & off Hills Science Diet for years. And they have gone from loving it to sometimes not wanting to eat it at all. So testing this formula was nice mainly because of the kernel size. This has to be the smallest kernel they offer. It's tiny! Probably about a third the size of a penny. So very small. As well, the ingredient list is pretty decent comparatively to their other products. It's very nice to see coconut oil in place of soybean oil (as you will find in their other lines of food). Honestly, for the price & reputation, Hill's doesn't use the best ingredients (you see corn or corn meal used in a lot of their formulas). This ingredient list is pretty clean & combing this with the small kernel size, I thought for sure it would be a winner. However, our guys are blowing it out! I mean going like 4 times a day. Our one pup usually goes only once! So even he's popping multiple sessions! This is a weight loss formula. So maybe that's how they intend for your pups to drop the extra lbs. Just poop it all out, lol! So, I'm torn on this formula. There are things I like & don't like about it. Price is on par with their other lines (Hill's on the high side of dry food prices). I was searching for something to get a little weight off of my 120 pound dog. This was a good solution. She looks forward to dinner time and always leaves a happy bowl. She has no complaints and neither do I. I honestly cannot see why or how this food should cost this much. However if this price was lowered to a reasonable price then I would purchase it again. My buddy has four legs and lots of fur and a wet nose. His undying loyalty and companionship is something our family cherishes. We try to give the best food and toys for our little furred family member and that's why we ordered the Hill's science diet dog food for him. I have heard of the Hill's science diet brand before and it has always been highly regarded and recommended amongst pet owners. Looking at the ingredients lists affirms my opinion that this brand of dog food is trusted and wholesome. If you read the ingredient listing you will find that everything included is not just filler but all natural ingredients and lots of healthy vitamins.
