We are one month into feeding this dog food, and my dog has lost 4lbs! She needs to lose 12 per the vet, so she’s 1/3 of the way there. The kibbles are a bit small for her, so next time I’ll order regular size. She really likes to chew her food. I’ve noticed no upset stomach or any thing out of the ordinary. If anything I’ve noticed better poop! Much more energy as well which makes me happy. Love the resealable bag as well.

I couldn’t say if this helps with balancing weight since it was only a 12 lb bag. All of my dogs like the taste of science diet dog food. So they all ate it without a problem and it seemed to be long lasting for them. I would buy it for them again.

We typically feed our dogs Hills Science Diet brand food based on our vet’s recommendation. It’s more expensive than generic brand food obviously, but the quality is so much better and what sold us was the vet isn’t asking us to buy it from them … she recommends it based on her her 30 years of experience. Our older dog recently had CCL surgery (apparently the dog equivalent of ACL repair) so she was on limited movement for 8 weeks. She’s *big boned* anyway so easily picked up weight during her recovery. The vet recommended a diet food plus exercise (after she was cleared for activity) on her recent checkup so we turned to this Hill’s weight control food. So far our old girl loves it - I’m not sure if she’s lost weight just yet, we’ve only had her on it for about 4 days, but it’s worth the cost of the food to know we’re doing everything we can to get her weight under control (and with the cost of her surgery we want to keep her around as long as possible!).

7/28/2023: Hill's Science Diet Adult Perfect Weight Small Bites Dry Dog Food, Chicken Recipe, 12 lb. Bag Great ingredients, and I like that it is made in the USA. (It does say it uses "global ingredients" but it is made in the US, and I feel like I can trust it.) I also like the small bites, although my small dog doesn't seem to care about the size of his dog food. I just like it. My previous dog was on a prescription weight-loss diet (Also Hill's Science Diet) to treat her chronic digestive issues - It was the only food that worked for her. My current dog has been having some stomach issues lately, and although I don't think his are bad enough for a prescription diet, I thought maybe a weight-loss diet would help him as well. Weight-loss dog food tends to be much higher in fiber, so I wanted to try this. I'm still slowly mixing this into his old food so I can't say yet whether it is going to help his stomach. He does seem to like it, although he doesn't get that excited over any dry kibble. As long as he eats it, that's good enough for me. If you're not using this for weight loss, you do have to give your dog more food than with regular dog foods. Looks like it's only about half a cup more for my dog though, so that's not too bad. It is kind of expensive at the time of this review, so I'm not sure yet whether I'll be buying it again. Perhaps it will get cheaper if I wait a while. It's still a lot cheaper than a prescription diet would be though, so I'll have to see whether it helps enough to be worth it.

This dog food was ordered for my outdoor dog. Even though he is exclusively outdoors on a farm, somehow he still manages to have an extra-large midsection. I don’t know what weight he started at or what he’s at now, but he seems to have lost some noticeable weight. It arrived rather quickly and he’s been eating it ever since. He seems to like the flavor, but he’s not an overly picky eater to begin with. Besides the weight loss, I haven’t noticed any other changes good or bad from this dog food. The bag is resealable with a ziplock type closure to keep it fresh. Overall, it’s constructed of a heavy-duty plastic instead of the more rugged typical woven material most pet food and animal feed comes in. For this reason, I would keep the bag away from anything that could possibly tear it open. Science Diet is a high-quality food and the price reflects that. However, I’m not sure if I can justify the cost on a regular basis.

Science Diet makes very high quality dog food. Their typical products are engineered to support a specific medical condition. As such, the high price for the product makes sense. This low-Calorie dog food meets a need. It is far from alone in the category. Other premium dog food manufacturers offer similar products at much lower cost. This product is the most expensive kibble we've tried. Having said that, I also have to say that I trust Science Diet. They make very high-quality dog foods. This product is no exception. Our dog eats it. She isn't gobbling it down, but she doesn't seem to mind that we've temporarily switched to it. It's too expensive for us to use on a steady basis.

Science Diet is literally science backed so it’s one of the few brands we trust. The cost is high, but so is the ingredient quality and company trustworthiness. We generally avoid chicken when choosing a protein for our dogs, but chicken tends to be leaner so it’s a common protein for weight management foods. They gobble this food up. It’s easy to eat and easy to digest.
