Our Maltese dog has an enlarged liver (common) so it needs a very low fat prescription diet. It loves this stuff and all the symptoms have disappeared. We do feed it smaller meals throughout the day and make sure we feed it half an hour before bedtime so it doesn’t have an upset stomach in the middle of the night. I just switched my dog to this food because he was diagnosed with pancreatitis. He surprisingly seems to really like it. I use this mixed with the same brand dry food, rice and some chicken breast. We have had no flare ups since switching. This is the food my vet recommended .

After my dog was diagnosed with pancreatitis, I had to commit to a prescription low-fat diet for her. She has always been very picky with her food, so I was worried about finding something that she would willingly eat. She seems to really enjoy the taste of this food. I think the one thing that she does not like is how much gravy is included. It makes her mouth wet and a bit stinky when she eats and the gravy gets it all over the fur around her mouth. This food might be better for short haired dogs than a poodle like my dog. I find myself having to wipe her mouth off with a washcloth after every meal. On one hand, I’m so happy that Hill’s makes this product in the smaller can size. It makes it easy when I am traveling with her or bringing her to a friend’s house for dinner or something like that to not have to bring a large size can and then figure out where to store the portion that she didn’t eat yet. I just wish they would also make the other variety of their low-fat i/d wet food in the small can size as my dog does prefer that variety and it would be so nice to be able to get it in the smaller can size!! ... show more

I had to switch my pit-mix’s food to this, as per Vet recommendation, due to a bout of pancreatitis. I mix this with the dry version of it and he loves it. His energy has improved and his belly is not rumbling anymore.
