At least for the grey/white curtains, these do not cut it. This picture is taken on a rainy day at 5pm. I do like the how light it is, and the tie backs. I decided to return and try their black colored ones. Hopefully that will give it more black out. Update: I got the black ones and they work excellent! Glad I tried another color before searching for another brand. I like the sheerness and tie backs. And I included a picture for the black ones, so you can see the difference. The picture is taken around the same time of day as white curtain picture.

I was looking for blackout curtains because I have an obnoxiously bright motion-sensor light directly outside my bedroom window that shines right into my room all night, and since I rent, there's really nothing I can do about the light. These curtains aren't 100% blackout, as the website description or video would have you believe. I can still see the outside light through the curtain, albeit it's not nearly as bad as without the curtains, so I'll take it. I will say that as far as sunlight and any other indirect light that might shine through the window (if the curtains are closed) they do completely darken the room, but given that I purchased them specifically to block this one light, and they don't block it out completely, I felt that I couldn't give them a 5-star rating. I did purchase the mustard yellow curtains because I liked the color best for the decor in my room, so I wonder if a darker color would have better blackout capabilities. Their website description didn't say anything about the color affecting the blackout effects, though, which is why I felt comfortable in choosing the yellow -- because I did come across other blackout curtain options in my search that did specify on their website descriptions that the lighter colors might not be as effective as the darker colors at producing a full blackout effect. In any case, I decided to keep them because although they're not 100% blackout, as advertised, they're better than not having the curtains at all, and they were the only brand I could find that had the exact measurement I needed for the panels. The product description also states that these blackout curtains help reduce noise and keep out "the chill in the winter." I can't say I've noticed any improvement in keeping the cold out and certainly not in noise reduction, so I wouldn't purchase these curtains if noise and temperature control are more important to you than the blackout effect.
