I have worn Hi-Tec boots for many decades with excellent results. This pair does not disappoint. The obvious quality of construction, high quality materials and excellent comfort built into these boots is what keeps me coming back for more. I wear a 12 wide and the toe box has room to keep the piggies happy. The pair that they are replacing have now been relegated to strictly working around the house and yard and have been in use for almost 25 years.     • Sizing is smaller than normal. Decent comfort from day 1.

Size is on the small side. I ordered my normal boot size and returned immediately as it was very apparent that they were much smaller than my normal boots both in length and width. These were wide fitting too, but crushed my foot and my toes were ant the ends of the boot. Ordered a size bigger and wide fitting for surety that they’ll be big enough. Update- received the larger size and they fit fine though again the wide fitting is initially a little snug. According to the manufacturers website, this boot is a direct replacement for the one I have been purchasing for a decade or more, but there are significant changes and I’m not sure I like the way these boots now have the holes at the top rather than the boot hooks for the laces, and the holes are set way back from the edge making them difficult to tighten and most of all unlace at the end of the day. You have to pretty much inline the top part of the boot to remove them, so hooks would have made much more sense, but that’s something I can live with. The boot laces untie within 10 minutes unless you double knot them. I did replace the insoles with ones that have much better arch support as the OE ones are kinda lame and it made the comfort level so much better. Having read it back this seems like a lot of complaints, but honestly, despite the few initial gripes they’re pretty comfortable right off the bat and depending on how well they last, at this point I would say that I would purchase them again. ... show more

I bought these to go hiking in Hocking Hills, OH. My experience was positive. The temperature the day we hiked was 19 degrees and the terrain was packed down snow through inclines and declines and snow covered steps. During our hike my feet did not get cold at all. When walking on the snow the traction on these was incredible. While I had to still be careful they hardly slid on the snowy conditions. It was the first time I wore these on that day and they were comfortable right out of the box. I would recommend these boots for winter conditions. ... show more

    • Doesn't fit like they should.

Quality is fine, but fit it horrible. I used to buy another boot from this brand and wide fit fine. Not this pair. Says wide but compresses my toes and digs into my arch. I've tried wearing them several times, but after a day, my feet are done.

Hi-Tecs are excellent, especially for the price. I've loved and worn out a couple of pairs of Hi-Tec Altitudes. This time I tried the even cheaper Hi-Tec Aspen. After 2 months of daily 1/2-hour hikes, they're fine.

    • Can't tighten laces

I am very unhappy with these boots. They are not useable. Zero stars. I have owned them a little while but have only tried them on. I obviously did not spend enough time trying them. I can't get the laces tight. The metal triangular lace eyes are so slick as you try to tighten from toe to top of the boot you can't. The laces release/loosen as soon as you move up the boot. I bought these for a specific trip, hauled them across country but did not wear them. I wish the return window was still open. ... show more

These did not turn out well for us. They are heavier than expected and a tight 14W. We needed to return them. It is unfortunate because the price is right.
