Do think about the range of climate, especially if it is becoming warmer and wetter. In Colorado, we get a lot of snow and cold weather, but the snow has generally been dry powder. These boots get good traction and are warm enough with normal cotton or wool stockings. In the rare times when the snow becomes wet/heavy or makes deep puddles, some moisture enters the stockings either through the sides or over the top. I would certainly buy an alternate pair if they offered a higher top and/or traded less ventilation for more waterproofing. That way I could save the current version for dryer weather.

At first I thought, "Ugh! I will have to return these boots," but... decided to try to fix the minor problems which were 1. a chemical smell which even came off on my socks And the other problem was 2.the horrible insoles that came with these shoes… decided to air them out repeatedly and I wore them a couple of times switching out socks and actually the chemical stench went away and I put a couple of different insoles and before realizing that you have to have just the right insoles and found some Dave's latex insoles on Amazon trimmed them down to just the size and now these boots are very comfortable and do not heat up like before. They are comfortable and cute now… it's actually a pretty good deal still to buy these boots plus insoles... Also I did size up 1/2 size I usually wear a 9 and the 9 1/2 was perfect.

Bought one for my husband and I since hi tech is well known brand. Based on other reviews, bought both half size bigger and glad we did. We both are size 8 and bought size 8.5. Lightweight and well made.
