This handle works very well. I had to do no work to get it installed. Some people said they had to enlarge the whole slightly, but mine fit perfect on my Bridgeport.

It does seem strange that this handle fits the Bridgeport quill perfectly once you have bored it out to the correct size. It is easy to do on a lathe with a boring bar or with a boring head on the mill. The top unscrews easily (2 x #2 posidrive screw heads) and the pin that holds the handle is easy to punch out. Once bored and reassembled it works very well. Probably some thread locker is going to be needed to prevent its parts shaking loose. Why it claims to be a knee handle is a complete mystery as is the fact that HHIP continue to make it despite all of the reviews saying the hole is too small. Maybe it is the correct size for some milling machine somewhere. Despite all of this I am pleased with its performance.

I have a 1979 Kent KTM-380 Knee Mill (It’s a Bridgeport) and I purchased this handle to replace the missing one. THe inner bore diameter was smaller than 1.00” more than a press fit design! then The plunge pin on the handle was nowhere close to hitting the holes around the quill down feed collar. I had to shave the pin on the inside edge; otherwise it would rest on the collar and not drop into the locking hole. I looked at several “aftermarket” budget options. This was “U.S. Made” and priced higher than avg. I expected way better fitment. The quality of metal seems good. Hence the 2 stars. But That make no difference if the item doesn’t fit properly. Measurements are the key to Machining anything and everything!! you should not see the holes on the down feed collar. The lever tubing should cover them so the entire locking pin can fall in.

As others said, 1" bore was .006 undersize. Hey ..2 vee blocks in a vice, bore it to size. Takes maybe 15 minutes. You must own a mill if buying. Works very well and I did change the handle tip for a ball that is shown. Comes with tapered end. Not a bad price, but QA is an issue here.
