Description

FALL IN LOVE WITH THE PIANO! The beauty of the music speaks for itself and is hugely appealing for children and adults! None of the traditional nursery ryhmes! Listen free on Marcel's website you will be blown away! HEY PRESTO! - WHY THIS PIANO METHOD IS UNIQUE! This Method is perfect those age 11 upwards and adults beginners. Hey Presto is the only piano method that gives full instruction on sustain pedal from the very first lesson. The music is carefully written so that a beautiful sound is made from the very first lesson and gradually pedal markings are introduced as the harmony and notation becomes more complex. There are also pieces that are written to be played without pedal and an emphasis on legato playing throughout. Many different styles of music are included in the book including Classical, Easy Listening, Folk Music, Jazz, Improvisation and Popular. There is an in depth explanation of the use of wrist circles and wrist rotation techniques and these are integrated within most of the pieces in the book. These techniques are vital for any pianist and hugely vital for professional pianists to stay injury free. The only beginner book you will need, there is no book 2! You will really be set you up for a lifetime of enjoyment at the piano and this book comes complete with YouTube and audio support. Beginner to near grade 2 level this method has 50 pages packed with material and so I hope that you find it extremely good value for money. • Good to learn pedaling
This book was recommended to me to help with pedaling practice. And indeed it did help me. But not just with that, it has good theory information, and I can concentrate on technique. The exercises are pleasant to play and listen to. They also have a YouTube video that plays each song, so if you get stuck or confused on timing, you can listen to it. I am over half way through it at this point, and I have had it for a month or so. But I practice a lot of other stuff too. ... show more

  • Lovely older beginner book
It's so refreshing to have an older beginner book with such beautiful music! The approach is well thought out. It may not be the only older beginner book I use with students, but it's one of the two methods I will gladly use!

  • Excellent beginners piano book!
It covers many piano concepts with beautiful songs paying special attention to how to master the pedal. Good idea to start learning it since the beginning!

  • excellent!
I love that these pieces are easy yet a bit more harmonically interesting than the standard early piano series. My students and I are big fans of this book.

  • Simple, beautiful, charming first pieces
Love the beauty and simplicity of these pieces. Definitely not your standard beginner method. Will use as a stepping stone for students who are eager to get into standard repertoire.

  • Make beautiful music right away!
When older teen or adult students come to me (a piano teacher) "to learn piano", they usually are not wanting to start from the very beginning as if they were a child. They want to sit down at the piano and play something lovely. It has been practically impossible to find them a book that will step them through the basics in a way that doesn't insult their intelligence, doesn't bore them, but does give them results RIGHT AWAY. Until now: finally, a book that allows them to either progress on their own or that they can bring in to me so I can fill in any unnecessary blanks, oversee their technique, or expand on ideas. Love it. Thank you Marcel, I couldn't have done it better myself!! ... show more

  • Innovative and inspired
This is a well thought out method for teaching the older piano beginner. Clearly set out, it develops technical skill and encourages musicality from the outset. Quite often the teenage beginner can become disheartened with the slower pace of starter books really aimed at younger children. This method uses original compositions which give a professional sound right from the outset. I imagine parents having to (hopefully!) listen to the pieces being practised over and over again will enjoy them too. Obviously, input from a piano teacher will make sure the use of sustain pedal is managed in the correct manner, but it's incorporation from page one is an innovative and inspired way to produce the sort of 'finished' sound that can hold the interest of most teenage beginners. I will be using this method in my lessons with new, older piano pupils. ... show more
