I got this clay-kit set and I’ve been using it with my kid for a little while now, and here’s my take. At first glance it’s fun — a bunch of colored cans of air-dry clay themed around ocean creatures, which meant my kid got excited right away. It’s super convenient that you don’t need an oven or kiln: you mold, let dry and you’re done. The colors are bright, the clay is soft enough for little hands to shape, and the fact that you can actually keep what you make (not just smash and throw away) gives it more staying power than some playthings. One thing I loved: the app/interactive instructions part. It guided us through creating some of the creatures step by step which made it more than just “here’s clay, go”. My kid grabbed on to it and we had fun doing the steps together. Also, cleanup was pretty manageable — the clay didn’t leave a giant mess, and dried creations stayed in one piece (so far). On the downside, there were a couple things that frustrated. Sometimes the clay cracked a little when drying in thinner parts of the sculptures; you’re better off making chunkier bits or reinforcing parts. Also, you’ll need a flat stable surface while it dries, and patience — if it gets knocked before fully set you’ll see hollows or breaks. Finally, while the visuals in the instructions are good, some kids (or parents) might still need a little help for the trickier shapes– it’s not completely “turn as if by magic” for very young ones. All in all though, I’m happy with it. It turned what could’ve been a “throw-together craft” into something we both got involved in, made and felt proud of. If you’re looking for a crafty, creative kit to keep a kid busy (and happy) with something they can display afterwards, this hits the mark

The clay itself is really nice to work with—soft, lightweight, and not sticky at all. The colors are bright and mixable, and it smells way better than most kids’ clays. The figures dry into cute little keepsakes that hold their shape without cracking, which is a big plus. The most frustrating part is that the entire set depends on the app. There are no paper instructions at all, and you can’t access the tutorials without scanning the code and going through the setup process. If you’re not into app-based toys, or if your kid doesn’t have a device, that’s a headache right from the start. I also didn’t love that the app pushes pretty hard for you to make an account, even though you can technically skip it. The tools they assume you’ll have—like a sculpting tool or even a pencil—aren’t included. The clay sticks to the pencil lead, so using something metal works better. Older kids will probably handle the guided steps easily, but younger ones may struggle to make the shapes look like the pictures without help. Overall, the clay quality is great and the animals are cute, but the app-only instructions and missing tools hold it back. Good activity if you’re okay with the tech requirement; not ideal if you want something straightforward out of the box.

My daughter just turned six years old and she has been getting more into arts and crafts so I thought this would be a perfect fun project for her to do and she loved it! We set up the table with all the clay and her tablet so she could follow along with the instructions which I have to say were great and easy for her to follow along with. The clay itself is not sticky or messy, it’s nice and soft and easy for her to play around with and figure out the shapes she needs to make and build it together before it dries. It comes with all the colors you need in order to build the characters on the box and once she assembled them and let them dry she now has them displayed in her room! I love that this is an activity my daughter can do on her own while I get things done around the house and it comes with visual walkthrough instructions for her.
