Please fully charge the device before first use to ensure proper startup and operation. For the initial setup, connect the controller via a wired connection to complete pairing. Once paired, you can switch to wireless mode for normal use. 1, Check the Cable: Use a data-transfer cable (not charge-only). 2, Update Driver: In Device Manager, right-click the controller → Update Driver. 4 tactile modded back buttons: You can activate the remap program during the game and assign maximum 15 buttons (X, O, Triangle, Square, Up, Down, Left, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2, L3, R3, Touchpad ) to the rear buttons. Last Updated: January 12th 2026, after a few months of ownership; still amazing. Original: (Background) I'll be honest I play video games every single day. From Marvel Rivals, Overwatch 2, Apex, Rocket League, Minecraft, Arc Raiders, Battlefield, Monster Hunter, you name it I played it. I have always used the playstation controllers and after going through four PS5 controllers I was over it... I reached the point where I bought the sensors and a solder gun and would just fix it DIY, which works but is extremely tedious and has a high chance of messing up your controller if you fail. I was so tired of buying a new controllers or fixing them. So I thought about getting the dualsense edge. But it uses the same joystick sensors as a regular PS5 controller... yay more stick drift. Then $20 for each stick to replace it. Heck no lol. (The Hex Controller) Then I looked up the best PS5 hall effect controller. This was within the recommendations and was a top contender. (Also FYI I almost ordered the wrong controller so make sure it says "hall effect"in the name or prodcut ladies and gents!) Anyways this is the BEST investment of money for a controller I've ever made! I'm kicking myself in the butt for not buying it years ago. Hall effects last for YEARS and are smooth! This controller feels amazing in the hands and top quality. All my buttons worked, it came tuned right out of the box, make sure to check everything once it arrives. The different profiles work great for all the different games you wanna play and even has the ability to turn it off if you don't care for the back buttons. For shooter games those mouse click triggers change the game especially for burst/semi auto guns (The Kettle on Arc Raiders) or that ADS speed. Overall if you get this controller on sale here or their website for $175-$200 it's a no brainer deal. But I would maybe recommend buying on the website because I think you get the carry case there and a cable. (I didn't receive either one from this seller, but it came in the HexGaming box... *shrug*) Pros: Quality feel, great mouse click triggers, ease of use, recalibration tool for stick drift or etc, plug and play, hall effect sensors, 4 mouse click back buttons, 6 different back button profiles, no latency, and honestly a fantastic grip! (Didn't Test Rumblers, speaker, microphone, or adaptive triggers.) Cons: Requires a loose grip due to back button placement. Seems some people run into button issues down the line, (I haven't). Amazon seller doesn't come with the case or cable for charging. Personally I don't like the backbutton placement so I don't use them but that's probably personal opinion. Battery drains faster than a standard PS5 controller BUT that's expected from hall effect sensors. Overall: Could be a better price like around $175-200 ($249 before tax seems a bit steep, but hey competition & inflation). Tbh it does a fantastic job overall, and is well worth the money! I give it a 8.5/10, just wish they made a cheaper/different one without the back buttons, but instead with a bigger battery, then it would be 10/10!

I have tried just about every popular controller at this point (dual sense edge, scuf envision, Xbox elite series 2, turtle beach stealth ultra, razer wolverine V3 pro, Flydigi Vader 4 Pro, and many more) and this one is probably the best I have used. The phantom does 3 things incredibly well: the hair triggers, the Hall effect sticks that can be calibrated, and the placement of the back buttons. The sticks are incredibly accurate to the point it even picks up the minute movements that none of my other controllers do (admittedly, this can be a bad thing at times in FPS games that don’t have aim assist lol, but turning the sensitivity down slightly makes it just like the others if you can’t get used to it). The hair triggers are the best I’ve used. They are micro click and they are absolutely instant. I can say it definitely made a difference in FPS games, especially when using a semi automatic option. The back buttons are the main reason I gave this controller a try because after being a long time elite series 2 user, I fell in love with the feel of the dual sense edge, but really missed having 4 back buttons with 1 finger per trigger. These are placed in a very ergonomic way such that it feels just as comfortable as my elite series 2, though I wish they were slightly harder to press as they are a little on the sensitive side. I have narrowed my extensive controller search to the Vader 4 pro and this. Each has its pros and cons, but I think the phantom beats the Vader 4 pro in just about every way. The elephant in the room is the price. Do I think the phantom is 3x better than the Vader 4 pro? Definitely not. I think this controller should be priced at no more than $199.00 and it would be a fair value for money. It’s just really hard to justify the cost of 3 Vader 4 Pro controllers for just 1 of these… TL;DR: it’s an amazing controller with every feature you could want, but the price is a little steep compared to controllers like the Vader 4 Pro which includes a very similar feature set for 1/3 of the price.

AWFUL!!! both triggers are not functioning, the left one releases even if you have it held down which is terrible for ADS. The right one no longer has "mouse click" and now has a pretty lengthy draw before it will function. Lastly the battery will not charge..... All happened with in 2 months, OH and customer service???? That isn't a thing with this company. Absolutely ignored completely. Only response from them was asking my order number and issue then I was ghosted. GO BUY A SCUF. Don't pay top dollar for garbage

I love this controller...when the hardware is still 100% intact. I'm about to get my 3rd one this month after the 1st one had the R1 button get jacked up within a couple days and then the second had the R2 trigger stop break, again after very light non-spammy usage. Odds are that I'm just going to run into another durability issue but I'm gonna give it one last go anyway because when everything's working how it should, it actually feels like a $200 something controller, and it's not like I don't already run into durability issues with the Edge. Never thought I'd want all the mouse-click responses (custom back 4 buttons and the two triggers if you engage the trigger stop) but now that I've tried them I don't like NOT having them. If they can get their QA under control with this, it could be the best controller I've ever used. But can't give it my full recommendation at the moment with the durability concerns EDIT: As a follow-up, I've been borderline afraid to even use this controller on anything more "intense" than say, a strategy game or just simple menu-driven RPG stuff. I also wash my hands a lot before handling any of my controllers. That being said, I now find myself getting double registers from one of the back buttons, which has somehow become "mushy" even with all the precautions. It doesn't feel as "crisp" as it should be when I click it, which may or may not be related to the double-register issue. Does anyone else have any sort of feedback on the 4 back buttons after any sort of extended usage? Like I'm almost positive they didn't feel like this out of the box and I was extremely gentle with usage. quick update: ended up just returning it for a refund. I WANT to like it and it's awesome when everything's 100% functional but that's too many different buttons breaking for too many reasons for me. Gonna miss the clicky buttons but then again someone else might be able to do them better without them feeling muddy and double-registering after very light usage

Best feeling controller I’ve used. And the lifetime warranty makes it worth it by itself. I have three of them. One had an issue with the right trigger and the mouse click function. I shipped it back to them after sending them video of the bad calibration. They shipped me a new controller and sent the old one back. They didn’t fix the old one but it still work fine if you don’t care about the click. I do wish they had tmr sticks though.

I was skeptical on buying this controller initially because I saw a lot of mixed reviews. I have multiple custom controllers that are similar to this and one of them had too much stick drift because I play on maxed out sensitivity with additional software to boost the sense even more. I did some shopping around and ended up with this one because it has joysticks that i can calibrate with the website and that is the best feature for this controller. Another small feature i liked but doesn't really apply to me but I thought id mention is the turning off and on of the triggers for shooting and aiming incase you play racing or other games that rely on the amount pressed. But I play mainly FPS competitive shooting games so it doesn't make a difference for me but a nice feature to have. It has been a couple of weeks and the buttons have been sticking and jamming. Mainly R1 and R2, could be because that's what I shoot with but regardless, I've barely gotten this controller. I also wish they had trigger stops for R1 and R2 because all my other controllers have them for all buttons and this is a $250 controller. My other controllers are all around the $200-$250 price range and this one falls middle of the pack but slightly behind since the wear and tear has already happened so fast. The buttons just feel clunky and one major annoying thing was that there was stick drift right out of the box so I had to hook it up and run tests and calibrate it. A brand new controller should not have that. I didn't mind initially but now with other button issues, for a controller that is so expensive, these should not happen and keep shopping around for other controllers and if you can wait, just find another better controller then getting one delivered by amazon the next day but it has issues.

I’m on the fence about this review. On one hand, the first time I attempted to purchase one of these, I received a faulty controller. The left /movement Joystick was either broken or not properly calibrated. Very frustrating considering the cost. Either way, for this price I wasn’t just going to accept that sort of thing. So I went through the replacement process and have received a new controller WITHOUT any issues. Which is GREAT. It’s a good product so far and I hope it stands the test of time, which I believe it will. That being said, I do not feel that someone paying this amount of money should have to deal with the process that I did. A product of this price and supposed quality, should come with some form of quality assurance, control, or testing before it is allowed to be sold, in my opinion. I have three friends who have bought this controller or another “PRO” style controller from Hex Gaming. Four of us in total have a product from them. Two of us say that there have been no issues. The other two have experienced issues. One of them being an issue with the touchpad, inhibiting the ability to reliably use text chat functions on console. Then my issue with the joystick. We are a small sample of people, but a 50% failure rate is pretty wild when it comes to technology, especially at this price. If you decide to go with this product, make sure that everything works as it should out of the box. If you notice something that feels off or wrong about the controller (Even if you can’t capture it on camera or reliably re-create the issue), go with your gut and send it back to be replaced. You are spending too much to accept anything less. Other than that, if you want to escape the Playstation controller hamster wheel that they’ve had us on since the PS5s release. This is a good option. It’s got the important stuff (Hall Effect sticks) and the bells and whistles (Trigger stops and back buttons) are nice to have as well.
