I just put the hoe together with little issue. Turns out, if you pay attention to the instructions that are included, it goes together nicely. It seems quite sturdy, no rattling at all. I bought this to get the weeds out of the cracks in my driveway. I'll find out tomorrow if it suits my needs. I'll update then. *UPDATE* (7/5/23) I used the hoe for a little bit yesterday (too hot for yard work, as per my neighbor). As far as weeding the garden, it moved the soil around nicely. We put a bird feeder in the garden for our cat's entertainment and now there's some bizarre grass- like weed growing under it. That stuff did not budge. I had to pick it out by hand. I then tried it on the cracks in the driveway. I'll give that a C-. Some of the weeds went willingly, others did not. It might be that I just didn't put the effort in because I was hot? I'll try again this weekend as it'll be 10⁰ cooler. ... show more

As an avid gardener, I'm always in search of tools that can improve the health and overall appearance of my lawn. In this quest, the Hermsche Lawn Aerator Coring Tool caught my attention. However, despite the appealing features it boasts, I found the experience to be somewhat lacking, resulting in a rating of three stars. The Hermsche Lawn Aerator's design certainly impresses at first glance. It features a sturdy, easy-to-use structure, and the 3 core with slope top half-open slot design promises deep and efficient aeration for a healthier lawn. In theory, this product aims to provide a superior manual aerating experience without the need for bulky machinery or professional services. However, while using this tool, I quickly found myself encountering an unfortunate snag. The plugs of grass and soil, a necessary byproduct of the aeration process, have a tendency to get stuck in the coring tubes. This means that every minute and a half or so, I found myself needing to stop and manually clean out the tubes with a screwdriver. The constant interruption significantly slowed down the aeration process and detracted from the overall user experience. Despite this setback, the Hermsche Lawn Aerator is still capable of performing its intended job, but the extra maintenance needed can make the process more tedious than one might hope for. This tool may still be a viable option for those willing to overlook this minor inconvenience in favour of manual aeration, but it's worth noting that this hiccup in the design could be a deal-breaker for some. In conclusion, while the Hermsche Lawn Aerator Coring Tool offers the potential for effective lawn aeration, it does come with an annoying glitch that requires persistent attention. Thus, I can only award it three out of five stars, marking it as a product that has room for improvement. Tool is very well made, comes in 3 pieces and is bolted together. The upper joint got a little misaligned after two days of use but all in all very sturdy and I hope it lasts for future use. After use I touched up the tip points with a file which had developed a very slight burr. Cleaning can be stubborn, use a 1/2 inch piece of rebar to force dirt plugs out. ... show more

I did not have success with this product. Unlike the traditional stirrup hoe, the angle was not useful and I was unable to get under the soil like a regular stirrup hoe. The product is sturdy and easy to assemble, it simply did not weed correctly, which defeated the purpose.

Poor quality control - after assembly the bottom tongs did not align with the handle. It was off 10-15 degrees. Ultra lightweight so doesn’t provide any heft when trying to push down into soil. Very hard work if your soil isn’t already perfect. Only useful in very small areas where an aeration machine can’t fit. Save yourself the frustration and rent an aeration machine. Better yet, save yourself frustration and pretty intense labor - just pay someone to aerate your lawn. ... show more
