Overall this thing's size makes it very specific to obviously smaller projects. So far, I have only used it to regrip golf clubs. And its been great for that. Even with the rubber vise that comes included with most golf regripping kits, there is just enough space to keep the club steady-see photos. The only down side is the clamp that mounts to the surface is very small, I think its like 1.3 inches or something. That is where this will deter the majority of users. Luckily for me, the table I use is relatively thin at only 1 inch at the edges, so it works for me. The build material is hefty- this is all steel- no plastic parts. For regripping clubs, it works. Not perfect, but for $20 its does what I need. ... show more

I lost the use of my left hand due to a cerebral hemorrhage, so opening things is often difficult for me. This little vise is almost like having another hand. I can open the vise by turning the handle with my [fully functional] right hand, position an object like a bottle of eye drops, a tube of lip balm, or the like in the vise, and hold the object in place with my thumb and forefinger while turning the handle with my little finger to tighten the vise. Then I can use my strong right hand to pull or twist that cap right off. This hard-working little vise is a significant improvement over the previous model offered here (see photo). The handle on the latter featured little rubber caps on each end, and the caps were prone to coming off, falling to the floor and disappearing. Then there was nothing to prevent the handle itself from sliding off and similarly vanishing. The current model features a handle that is one continuous rod of steel , with a knob of steel on each end. This handle will stay put, and since a vise without a handle is essentially useless, this is an important improvement. This vise isn't dirt-cheap, but I think the current model is well worth it. ... show more

It is quite small, obviously intended for light use. Looks sturdy but mounting is too close to edge for serious sturdiness. Rotating head is a wonderful feature, but it's locking fastener is if'y. Wouldn't use it for any heavy pieces of material, not sure it would hold up.

This clamp just has that high quality feel when using it. It's heavy, sturdy, and turning the tightening mechanism is very satisfying like a larger sized unit. The grip is good, but you may need to file/sand it down or attach a couple of wooden/rubber slats to avoid marring certain materials you plan on clamping. I found that sanding the area where the jaws grip is the easiest and quickest way to get a smooth surface. As for quality, you just won't find a better clamp at this size and price range. I wouldn't even bother looking at others. I've tried so many and have been disappointed by all of them except for this one, which I should have started with in the first place. ... show more

First off, for the money it's amazing! It holds very well and is very sturdy. I trust it. I can't say that it's the quality of my dad's old bench vise, and it's not quite as smooth but I'm expecting many many years of service from it and I predict it will actually get better with age unlike many products made these days. ... show more
