  • Nice stunt kite
Style: red
Nice kite if you know what you are doing. My 13 year old son got this with some birthday money and has been loving it. I had some old school framed stunt kites when I was kid so this foil type is really cool to use. Need to be careful with the bridle to not tangle and some other reviews complained that the lines are way too long…which is true, they do come way too long but fortunately humans invented scissors so pretty easy to fix and customize to your liking :) ... show more

  • It is not as hard as you might think, but well worth it and it is a blast.
Style: green
First, if you think you cannot do this, just youtube it while you wait on it to be delivered. Once you get the hang of it, you can fly it in 7 mph winds and up. 10 MPH wind is a great training wind to practice on. I just had it out in 15-17 mph winds and it was a blast and a minor work out. I have 20 to 25 mph winds coming tomorrow, I expect it to lift me up to one foot as it flies side to side. I self launch into a narrow opening. I do not have a wide open field, I cannot do a bunch of tricks, but it is easy to fly it away from obstructions with out issue. I have treed it once, and I was able to fly it back out of the tree by chance and the lines stayed intact. When I self launch. I lay flat on the ground with the tail pointed towards me. a small weight on the tail keep it from blowing away. As you take tension on the line, twitch the lines slightly to get the cells to inflate. At that point, either the wind will finish the inflation or you will step backwards briskly to finish the inflation and up she goes. The tension needs to be even at the bridles, that may or may not keep your arms even. worry less about your arm position and I think you will have better luck in good flights. Another piece of advice, youtube some skydivers handling their parachutes once they land. It will give you something to mimic when you handle your cascade lines and bridle. Line tangles are not hard to manage if you keep a broader context of what you are trying to do. The fabric is stiff when you fly it the first time, but the more you fly it, the more limber the fabric becomes as you break it in. I started two weeks ago with a 48 inch 19 dollar parafoil kite, it was quite a bit harder to fly and needs stronger wind to have fun. If you are a good adolescent to not an idiot adult, this should be no problem. When I wear this one out, I will get this again or a little bit bigger one. On the other hand, this is at a price point to try it and see if you like or give it away. ... show more

  • Great value kite!
Style: red
For a cheap kite we had lots of fun with it for a week at the beach. Winds were moderate this and one other stunt kite we had flew well in them. Others we had needed more wind. Perhaps not the highest quality but was easy to get flying and if put away carefully we were able to quickly unpack and relaunch the next day. As a couple other reviewers said, it is not the most agile quick turning kite, meh... We did use our own lines the second day as the ones supplied were a bit longer than we desired and did look a bit weak. We were also able to attach a centered 60ft tube tail on this kite which greatly enhanced the look and did not affect handling. Not sure it would be the best kite in higher winds, but a lot of fun for the price. ... show more

  • Not worth your time or money.
Style: yellow
I wanted to like these kites. I often see reviews for cheaper versions of things where there's always "that one guy" reviewer who, after me reading tons of positive reviews, reads his review slamming the product with comparisons of a much better but often quite costlier version of the product. This reviewer often appears to be an enthusiast in the field being discussed, and drops a lot of arcane knowledge and phrasing sending you on a Google expedition to find out what he's talking about. If you read reviews for these kites you'll find there is at least one such person who has in fact done just this here. I often don't listen to this type of reviewer because I'm often perfectly fine with getting 80-90% the quality of the more expensive item at 30% the cost. That being said, let me review this kite from a person with beginners level experience with stunt kite flying (meaning, I knew nothing beyond seeing that stunt kites had more than one string). So, without further Ado: The strings for this kite are just awful. They have an unacceptably low tensile strength rating for the pilot (control or lead) strings, which results in any reasonably Gusty winds snapping them and ending your fun. Because the strings are so low quality, they are very thin and are easily agitated by the windy conditions we choose to fly kites in (who would fly a kite in high winds right?) Often when the kite hits the ground or twists on itself, the Parafoil string assembly (for lack of a better term) twists around itself and is either impossible to untangle or requires you spend the next 20 minutes trying to untangle then in the very same windy conditions that were supplying so much fun. If the line snapped in mid-air, god help you. The foil itself is poorly stiched and just doesn't perform well in flight.. they're slow and ungainly and generally don't do much until the wind picks up, at which point your strings snap. (Three kites, 4 times) After ordering 4 kites and trying to see if I could find at least one or two of the bunch with slightly better quality, I gave up and I'm sending them all back. To all you potential customers out there, let me tell you, that at least in this case, "that guy" reviewer who recommended a more expensive kite was absolutely right. I went ahead and ordered a Prism Snapshot 2.5 and the quality is night and day, hands down better. The kite strings are thicker, better knotted and almost never tangle; the kite will often get itself back up in the air unassisted. It pulls and flies at least 60% harder and faster. It's not even fair to compare the two. I spent hours flying the Snapshot until my wrists were sore and my feet hurt from exhilarating battling. If the Snapshot 2.5 is too expensive, at the time of this review there's a 1.2 Snapshot on Amazon for almost the same price as this cheapie kite. Remember to: the bigger the kite, the slower it is and the harder it pulls. I'm a 275 pound man and the Snapshot 2.5 can easily throw me on the ground if I'm not careful. When selecting your kite and comparing this 30 dollar 2.5 meter kite to the slightly more expensive 1.2 meter Snapshot remember this. ... show more

  • first time flyer many more to come.
Style: blue
took it to fly today was a great time, easy to assemble. defiantly took some time time to figure it out. First thing i didn't like after flying for a few hours was the handles in stronger winds get a bit uncomfortable not bad enough to stop just could use better ones for sure but for $30 not asking for better. This wing will fly in slower winds but 10mph is a must and constant wind really helps. I would recommend this to anyone looking to try it out for sure. my wife and son both used it and had a blast. so for $30 you cant go wrong here. only draw back i ordered a green wing and got a blue one. ... show more
