I am currently using this tool to loosen up ground to reseed some bare patches in the lawn. It has saved me many hours to perform this task. Hoping for good final results. Tool seems very sturdy and should last for a long time!

This tool seems very sturdy, only problem is a little wiggle at the joints where the bolt is. If purchasing, make sure you have a socket set handy or several pliers to tighten the bolts. The adjustable height is a good feature in case several different people are using this tool. If they include wrenches that work and could tighten up the handle, it would be a five star rating.

The aerators that remove plugs of soil are more effective but also more of a hassle to use and much more expensive. This is a good cheap alternative if you need to aerate a small lawn < 1000 sq ft otherwise it will take a long time and your back is going to be killing you. I did about 700 sq ft in 40 min and it was easy to use, bolts didn't loosen but it WAS a bit of a workout. I think you can make it more effective by wiggling it when you push down with your foot to make slightly bigger holes. Overall on aerators this type gets 4 stars but for this type for the to ltra low price it is a 5-star value for small lawns or gardens.

It is easy to assemble. There are only three parts, the handle, the junction pipe, and the spike head, to be combined with two screws. The wrenches are provided. No other tool is needed. The spikes are soldered on the frame so that they are not changeable. But I actually like this design because the spikes are fixed to be solid. The paint on the spike may go away after several uses but it will not affect the function.

This works great for small areas in your yard. If your willing to work it you could use it for all the yard. I had some small patches in yard that it worked great on.
