I have one of these types of heating pads already but there are 3 dogs so I could definitely use an extra one, especially since the weather turned cooler and I found everyone shivering pitifully in the living room while that Sarah McLachlan song "Arms of an Angel" played tragically in the background. Just kidding, it was only playing in my head. To save me from their dramatics I plugged this in and turned it on high. It heats up very slowly and doesn't get too warm (safety first!) but it got warm enough that the dogs all took turns on it before finding another cozy spot to curl up. I got this for the outdoor stray cat for the winter to keep her warm on the porch and she already LOVES it. Its a big nice size for a much larger animal and the cord is reinforced. There several settings and a timer if you want and its supper soft and snuggly

It works, but my animals aren't used to anything like this, so they don't like it. It took an extrodinary amount of energy just to get them to sit in the pad. They have been taught to not lay or walk on items that are on the floor...apparently too well. I might just donate it to a shelter. I am sure they can use it much more than myself. ... show more

This heating pad works just like my old one that I have been looking SO LONG for a replacement for. I used one for over 5 years and it never got super hot which is a problem with SO many heating pads. This pad will warm up but it wont feel warm to the touch, if you press down on it (as if an animal was laying on it) you'll feel the warmth and that is perfect!! My old one didn't have a timer, and since I dont live in an extremely cold area I can set it up to be on just at night time which is awesome too. ... show more

My cats love this heating pad and so do I. The controls are easy to use and the cables are shielded to prevent them being chewed on. I really like that you can set it to not turn off. It is gettign harder and harder to find these that do not shut off after a certain period. You can set this one to turn off or not. The size is great as well as my cats can stretch out on it.
