I’ve never been much of an apron wearer—and I have the stained shirts to prove it. I’ve mostly avoided them because most aprons are flimsy, awkwardly shaped, or just plain ugly. But I’ve had my eye on Hedley & Bennett for a while, and I finally pulled the trigger on this crossback chef apron. Now I’m wondering what took me so long. This apron is made from 8oz cotton canvas, which is substantial and quite stiff at first. It’s heavy-duty enough to take a beating in the kitchen, but it softens up nicely after a few washes without losing its structure. The olive green is quite a deep color that would hide stains if the fabric held onto stains—I’ve been able to get soy sauce out of it. I did spot clean the stain and I use Oxy Clean in every wash. It came out looking like new. The crossback design is so comfortable—no pulling at the neck, and the ties are long enough to fit just about anyone. My husband ties it in the back, I wrap it around to the front. The front has two roomy pockets that actually hold things without dumping them the second you bend over, and there's a handy chest pocket for pens and thermometers. But my favorite feature is the towel loop. I’m always reaching for one mid-recipe, and now I don’t have to wander around muttering about where I left it. If you cook often—or even occasionally and hate spaghetti sauce on your favorite tee—this apron is worth the investment. It won’t guarantee Top Chef quality food, but you’ll look like one!

I saw Hedley & Bennett aprons on Next Level Chef and thought they not only looked sharp, but they also looked comfortable. I've really wanted this apron for a long time but have been wondering if it is worth its price tag. It is. The crossback design really does help keep unnecessary weight and stress off my neck. There's ample storage in the pockets so I can tote my thermometer and even my gloves and a few other kitchen tools. I like the thickness and weight of it, and it keeps my clothing clean. It covers me well and leaves me enough range of movement to stay busy in the kitchen without noticing I have an apron on. I make a big mess, but this apron protects me. It's a very professional looking apron and it reminds me of the quality of a Barbour jacket with its perfect stitching. For something that takes a lot of abuse in the kitchen, it may seem a little pricey, but this apron is going to last a long time and it will keep me comfortable and clean. Because it is so well made, it certainly provides good value.

When I cook, I always wear an apron. Traditionally, I've worn cheaper aprons and have wanted a Hedley & Bennett for a long time, but refrained because of the expense. When I saw this was available, I bit the bullet and got it. I love it and wonder why I waited so long. Everything about this apron is spot on - the crossback is perfect because it keeps strain off your neck, the ties easily go all the way around you, the pockets are big and deep, the material is thick, sturdy, easily washable, and somewhat stain resistant - at least it's easy to wipe stains off or remove them in the wash. As well, the color is pleasing; this olive green is one of my favorite colors. I'm getting rid of most of my other aprons because this one is definitely THE keepe and the one I'm wearing and will be wearing the most.

We have a few of these aprons but nothing this industrial. This is as nice if not nicer than any of the others. Definitely an industrial work kitchen type, meant to last and handle everyday use

The media could not be loaded. I washed it and dried and it is not wrinkly and held up very well. There weren’t any stains on it yet, but like I said, I will pre treat before washing every single time, and I would recommend doing that as you don’t want to pay the high price tag and have a stained although well constructed apron. I will definitely update review if this stains like my other one did. The dark colors are the way to go just in case you don’t catch a stain and it sets in. Now keep in mind, I am a messy cook so maybe others wouldn’t have the staining problem to the same extent as myself. 😜 I haven’t found an apron like this one with the sturdy cotton material that isn’t thin like so many other aprons, which defeat the purpose of an apron as the stains go right through to the clothes. I also appreciate cotton products every time over synthetic. The strap to put a tool or towel is great as well as the pockets. It’s a 5 star apron so far but I do wish the cost wasn’t so high on this apron so it would be more easily attainable by the home cook. Nonetheless, you will be getting a well designed and constructed apron made for a serious cook or gardener as this would work well in gardening situations too. I will use primarily when cooking and cleaning my house.

This apron is incredibly durable and adjustable, able to fit a variety of body types, from short to tall. It is incredibly well made and it is made to last, though years of wear and tear, washing and cooking. If you are serious about cooking, this is a worthwhile investment - and it is an investment. But, with proper care, it will last a very long time.

I could tell immediately upon opening this that the quality was top tier. It is an expensive apron, but it's way nicer than many others I've seen, and I know it's something I will probably use forever. I love that the straps cross in the back that everything's adjustable, and the material feels very rugged, I know it will hold up well to a lot of use and abuse! Plus, it looks great!
