This garden rake has 17 tines about 1" apart, so it's about the width of other garden rakes. The rake head is solid steel, heavy enough to do what it's intended to do, with solidly-welded steel supports to distribute the stress away from the center of the rake head where rakes and handles often break. The rake is easy enough to put together, just two bolts (hardware and tiny wrenches for installing them provided), then handle sections to tighten together. The two bolts do have to be tightened very tightly, almost to the point of crushing the handle sleeve, to eliminate any play between the handle and the head of the rake. When fully assembled, the rake is VERY long-handled, though that's not a weakness: it can be really useful for clearing leaves and debris from between hedge plants, for instance. And it's simple to shorten the handle or to take it apart to put it in a car trunk. The head of this rake is reassuringly heavy gauge, and the welds (photo) certainly look solid. The weight of the rake head combined with a very light-weight steel tubing handle made it easy to handle for leveling off a small area of recent excavation in my yard, about the only springtime use I've put it to so far. A good, sturdy essential gardening and landscaping tool, and one that looks like it will stand up well.

As a coach I find it necessary to have a rake always accessible for your fields. This one breaks down so I don't have to stick a handle out my window and it's very sharp so it really scratches up the sand to help dry it out. It feels very sturdy and I just hope the handle holds up to lots of abuse. So far, so good!

This rake comes packaged in 5 pieces, with the rake head and four pieces that twist together to make up the handle. This is a pro in some ways, as you can make the rake shorter if you wanted but the head is heavy and largevenough that it's not really something that kids would be using. Having four pieces does affect the strength a bit and of course adds the chance that you will accidentally loosed the pieces during use. The actual rake head is one piece of metal, and feels quite solid, attached with two screws that left it feeling secure. I was able to use the rake to move a bunch of mulch and it worked well.

..instead of FOUR. It is pretty easy to assemble - a little too easy, as far as the handle is concerned, however. I just know that, with actual usage, the THREE separate (only) hand twisted junction points are going to loosen and need constant retwisting. The rake head still wiggles just a touch after careful hand tightening of the provided bolts. I can probably go back and try to tighten them a bit more...if not, I suspect the head will also wiggle itself quite loosey goosey after minimal actual usage. Looks great otherwise, and substantially heavy (in the right way).
