  • Incredible value and an awesome product for iron-on patches
I've used this for both patches that I've bought without realizing they were sew-on, as well as on patches that I re-heated with an iron to remove and relocate (Usually when doing this, the iron-on adhesive still works, but sometimes it doesn't!). Anyway, I bought this stuff on a whim. I can't believe how well it worked, or much you get for a mere three bucks. Amazing! In these photos: 'I was a Teenage Werewolf' was a patch that had no iron-on backing. 'Sorry We're Dead' was a patch that I moved to a different area of the jacket, and most of the original adhesive stayed in the old spot because I didn't heat it up enough before peeling it off. Amazon is asking me to give specific stars for 'Thickness' and 'Stretch'. Don't seem relevant... Not sure why, but... This stuff isn't thick, but I don't see why it would need to be. It has plenty of adhesion for my uses. Stretch? Not sure of intent of the semantics here. It doesn't physically stretch.... That said, there is so much here though that I can certainly stretch it's use. It's super-easy to use: 1. Using scissors, cut out an area slightly larger than the patch (or what you're trying to bond). 2. Place your patch on the ironing board face down. The HeatnBond sheet has a paper liner on one side. Put the glossy side of the HeatnBond you cut out on the backside of the patch that's facing you, The paper side of the HeatnBond should be facing up, towards you... Iron it to seal it to seal the shiny side to the backside of the patch. 3. After it cools, use the scissors to trim the edges of the HeatnBond that extends beyond the edges of your patch, so that it's the same size as your patch. Peel off the paper so the adhesive is exposed. 4. Flip the patch over and place it on where you'd like it to be. Iron it 5. Let it cool before moving the jacket (or whatever it is you're working on). You're done. Roughly a 5-10 minute process. Easy Peazy. 6. After it cools, and the jacket (or whatever) has moved around a bit, you 'may' need to hit the patch with an iron again. That's not a fault of this product. That's pretty much standard practice with iron-on patches. You often need to hit patches with an iron 2-3 times between the first 2-3 times you wear the clothing until they are really bonded. To summarize this short novel: Great stuff... an absolute steal at $3! ... show more

  • Great for Girl Scout badges/patches
My daughter and some of her Girl Scout sisters recently started doing more of the retired badges and they are not iron on. I purchased this to add to the back to make them iron on and it has worked great. Personally, I cut the material to fit just inside the badge and used a heat press to warm it. Then used the heat press to apply it like I do the regular ones. None have fallen off ... show more

  • Did NOT work on Girl Scout vests
I have been ironing on Girl Scout patches for about six years and have probably done about 100 patches. I pride myself on the fact that she has never had one fall off. It takes time and patience and really pressing into the fabric and holding it for the appropriate amount of time. Until now, all of the patches came with the iron on adhesive however after a recent trip she got several patches that were sew-on. I don’t have a machine that can handle the thick canvas of the vest through a patch so I decided to give this a try because it seems like the perfect fix. Initially when you iron it onto the patch and peel the backing off it looks just like the sheen of glue that comes on the iron-on patches so I was very hopeful that this would work. However, the first two patches that I tried would only stay on for a few minutes and then as I manipulated the garment to do other patches they would start to peel up. I tried an extra layer of glue because they have an embroidered border and I thought maybe it wasn’t getting good contact. I pressed it firmly but nothing seemed to work. It will hold them on long enough to sew them (which the instructions specifically say not to do) however I don’t really have another option or they’re going to fall off. I gave it two stars because I think if you were using it on cotton instead of the synthetic canvas or with something more flat (didn’t have the border) or on some thing that you hang on the wall that doesn’t get worn or manipulated, it would potentially work but for my purposes it was not useful. ... show more
