The black plastic case looks like cheap plastic to be honest, but the key itself fills sturdy in comparison to the original setup key fob. Mine came in a bit too tight and would activate the rear trunk unlock button continuously so I had to use a dremel to shave off just a bit of material, and once done i had no issues with the setup. All in all, for the cost and the new body looks far better than the original and outlay the cons. Note that this does not come with the chip to program, so you will need to get that from the OG key or the dealer. One last thing, the new fob has 2 screws, do NOT remove the screw on the flat surface located opposite side of the buttons; this screw unlocks the flip key mechanism, it's not too hard to put back but just leave it be. Remove the screw located on the side of the fob farthest away from the key once extended. I'll update if things go south with the setup. ... show more

Overall, this is a great, inexpensive way to replace worn out key fobs for 2007 Mitsubishi cars (in my case, an Outlander). Our old key fob was falling apart (one of the parts that snaps closed had broken off after the last battery change). I was able to take the guts of the old key fob and put it into the new shell. A local locksmith shop was able to cut it to match the old key for less than $5. Dealership wanted $90 for a 'genuine part', so I saved quite a bit. Short of 5 full stars because the key blade is currently secure, but there is only one small screw holding it in place so I'm not sure how it will stand up over time with repeated use in the car. For the price, tho, it is completely worth giving this a try. ... show more

Its an awesome product but didnt come with button pad shown in picture. I called just to make sure and got treated like dirt by my representative and her supervisor. They didnt understand what i was talking about an i was asking a simple question , is it supposed to come with the button pad or not. An got talked down to because they thought i was spitting on their product or something. I ordered this key because i thought it came with everything but doesnt i guess. I give my representative a quarter star because how i was talked to. Im putting 5 to get it in the good reviews so people can read this. ... show more

My original Key Fob had broken after having it for 3 years. The insides of the key worked. I called the dealership to find I had to pay $150 to replace it. I looked it up on Amazon just to see if I could find it cheaper.I figured for $8 I would try it. When I got it I was really surprised how it was better quality body Fob. I removed the insides of my old Fob and placed it inside of the new one, and it worked. I will have the key that came with it cut so that I have another key. Better looking case for my Mitsubishi lancer 2009. The last pic is the old style key and the first 2 pic’s are after I swapped the electronic device from old case to new case. Only negative thing is after I put the electronic component inside this new case, it won’t close completely after I put screws and tightened them. I can see small gap because this case should have more space inside for the chip to fit perfectly. ... show more

I got this because the part that goes on the ring broke on my original. Take this blank to Lowes or Home Depot and tell them to just cut it. They didn't want to do it for me because they said it has a chip, but I had it cut anyways. The chip is in the guts that you swap out. I also had to swap out the pieces for the buttons because the prongs are a little too tall and it was keeping them pushed in. Other than that this key works fine. ... show more

I think it’s a great option for upgrading your key. Could use some redesign. The lower ridge that the remote chip sits on is a little high and needs to be shaved down for the buttons to be able to click. As well as some support on the sides to make sure nothing falls out of place, if you accidentally dropped it. A little annoying to put back together after cutting the key and installing the chip. Dislike how an emblem is not included with the shell. Over all a great idea, needs a little bit of work. ... show more

I have a 2006 eclipse gs.and the metal part broke from my key fob sonto crank it I would leave metal part in ignition and I would.hook the fob part too it.hold it tight and crank it .called a locksmith and they said they couldn't make a key for it because there machines couldn't program it.called dealership and they wanted 300.i ordered this and transferred the guts from fob to this one and got key cut for 5 dollars at locksmith and everything works.like a charm. ... show more
