  • Wfh laptop + personal laptop sharing monitors
Color: 1.25FT Cable
I bought two of these to allow me to use the same pair of monitors with two laptops. I opted for this model partly because of the integrated cable, which i have plugged into the monitors. It saved me needing a third hdmi cable. A matrix switch might have been able to switch both of them with one button, but to do QHD, they're expensive. I imagine there are probably KVMs which can switch two monitors and a kb/mouse, but there probably aren't many which can do 2k or 4k, and it's certainly not going to be cheap. My solution for the kb and mouse is a Plugable USB switch (USB3-SWITCH2). Besides, having seperate switches allows me to switch them independently so i can have one laptop in each depending on the situation. Honestly, this is the simplest solution for this I've used, and it's very cost effective. Sure, i could have just used the dual hdmi inputs on the monitors and switch the input on the monitors, but this is way quicker without having to traverse non user-friendly menus to get it done. So far they've worked pretty much flawlessly. I've had zero issues with video drivers switching the monitors. I had more windows issues with the built-in monitor switching. The nitpicks: First, I really only need switching between two monitors. This isn't a fault of the product. I could have chosen a 2 source switch, but i liked the cable layout and short integrated cable. Plus they're very reasonably priced. Second, the length of the integrated cable limits placement. It's a mixed bag- and again, not really a fault of the product or design. It's about 15" long, and it does limit placement of the switch. Third, and probably my one legit nitpick is that the little 1-2-3 label and indicator leds are super small and super close together. It's not really possible to label them. Oh and the tiny little leds are super bright. I had intended to mcguyver a mounting bracket to position the indicator and switch to just be visible below my monitors, but if the led is facing me, it's too bright. But for the price and the reliable functionality, it's in no way a deal breaker. But they're nice and compact, and did I mention cheap? ... show more

  • Doesn't work.
Color: 1.25FT Cable
I'll be returning this. I plugged it in with 2 different HDMI inputs (PC and Nintendo Switch) and at first my monitor didn't detect anything at all and wouldn't display no matter which input I chose. I unplugged it and tried again with only one input (PC). The display turned on for a few seconds, then disconnected, then turned on again and kept doing this over and over. Same thing when I tried it with only the Switch plugged into the splitter. Should have known better, you get what you pay for. I don't recommend. ... show more

  • Make sure that this is what you need!
Color: 1.25FT Cable
There's a BIG DIFFERENCE between a switch, a splitter, and an adapter! Learn from my mistakes! For people with brains, this should be obvious, but for the rest of us... not so much. Depending on what you're trying to do, you will need one of these three. **** HDMI SWITCH **** Change devices going to the same monitor/television/whatever. Example: let's say you have a PC and an Xbox. You want use the same monitor for both the PC and the Xbox. You COULD re-wire everything every time you want to change between the devices, or you could buy a switch. An HDMI cable goes from your PC to the switcher, and another HDMI goes from your Xbox to the switcher. 2 inputs. From there, an HDMI cable goes from the switcher to the monitor. One output. **** HDMI SPLITTER **** A device that duplicates the output of a device to multiple monitors/televisions/things-with-a-screen-and-HDMI-port. Example: let's say that you own a bar and you have three televisions. You want to show the big game on all three tvs. You would buy a splitter, and your signal would be duplicated on all three televisions. In this case, an HDMI cable would go from your device to the splitter, and then HDMI cables would go from the splitter to the screens -- one cable per screen. IMPORTANT: you CANNOT have different stuff show on different screens! All that a splitter does is duplicate the images going from your device to your television/monitor to more than one television/monitor/screens-with-HDMI-port! ALL IS DOES IS DUPLICATE WHAT'S SHOWING ON ONE SCREEN! **** Switch/Splitters **** Yes, you can combine a switcher and a splitter. Example: you have a PC in your home office and you'd like to use that PC to show Netflix movies on your television in the living room. You also want to use the monitor in your office to play Xbox. How can you do this? In this case, you want a switch/splitter. The switch would be to go between the Xbox and your PC in your office, and the splitter to show Netflix on both your office monitor and the television in the living room. **** What's this # IN # OUT business? **** This is for switch/splitters. The number for IN references the different devices that you want to use, and the number for OUT is the number of televisions/monitors/screens-with-HDMI-ports. Let's go back to our "use Xbox and computer in home office but also show Netflix on both your home office monitor AND living room television" example. In this case, you have 2 devices -- two inputs -- your computer and your Xbox, and 2 outputs, your home office monitor and the television in your living room. To accomplish this example, you'd need a switch/splitter 2 IN 2 OUT. The lesson here is: # IN is the number of devices you want to use and # OUT is the number of monitors/televisions/screens-with-an-HDMI-port that you want to use. **** ADAPTER **** This allows you to use more than one monitor for your device (probably either a laptop of a tower PC). This time you CAN have different things showing on different monitors. However, to really get this done you need to know that your graphics card can handle three inputs. I don't know a lot about this stuff, so I can't give good advice. ... show more
