I needed a servo I could put inside a Halloween skeleton's skull to move the jaw. I am using a servo driver circuit I put together to drive it, which outputs a standard PWM signal (50 Hz, 1-2 ms pulses). It works fine with it and I'm happy with the torque and speed. This is a fast servo at 0.12sec/60 deg, but it still has enough torque to do what I need. I also really like the metal gears because I don't want the gears to strip. Unless I find a better servo for the price I'll probably be going back to this one for my animatronic needs.

This review is for the "HAWK'S WORK Micro Servo 9g, Metal Geared Motor Kit for Robot Arm RC Plane Helicopter Car Boat, STEM & Raspberry Pi Project (Emax ES08MA II)." If you are new to servos, there are two basic rypes: analog and digital. The analog type, as is with this particular servo, uses a PWM (pulse width modulation) signal to control the servo. Generally a 50Hz PWM signal is adequate with a 0 to 100% PWM signal as its actual control. The PWM width is directly related to its position. In this particular product, they use a decent NOBLE potentiometer to tell an internal circuit where the rotation location is at any given time, ensuring fairly accurate positioning. Digital servos work a bit differently, are a bit more accurate, but also have some potential issues of their own. I like this brand of servo. Its truly all metal gearing ensures a smooth and stable sweep. The size is decent and torque is adequate for many projects. There are smaller servos out there, so if you are looking for micro-miniature, this servo may not fit your needs. The kit comes with some nice hardware for moving arms, flaps, vents and the like. Controlling these analog servos is quite easy really. Arduino, PIC, Raspberry pi, etc. all are great microprocessors that can easily control the servo with just a little coding. There are a lot of examples on the internet and Amazon has a slew of microprocessors and nice kits to get you started. One anomaly I discovered. The specs state it has an operating speed at 6v of 0.12 sec/60. The one I received was about 20% slower. That isn't an issue for my applications, but it may be for yours. I would message the seller for clarification if that's important to you. There are cheaper servos on Amazon, but like usual... one gets what they pay for. In my opinion, this servo is a decent value. Worthy of recommendation imho.

Nice little servo. It fits perfectly in my SCX24 servo tray. It has a decent amount of torque. The servo motion is smooth and responsive. The durable metal gearing is the only way to go! For the money, it's a great option from a fairly well-known brand.

After a long hiatus I've gotten back into R/C airplanes recently, I even scratch built an old Bridi Flipper glider from a set of plans, and when I saw this I thought I'd see what it offered. The servos I used in the Flipper were bigger than this one. Had I had these I would have installed them instead, it was a tight fit installing the others, and they were miniature sized servos too. I said it's been a long hiatus? Well this servo has inspired me to pull out a set of foam core wings I've packed up and moved around the country countless of times, always repeating that hoarder's motto to myself - "I might use that someday" - since...ready?... 1978! They are only 36", so I would need to build light, and these servos would definitely help with that. It's surprising that for the price the servo comes with metal gears, the transit time is quick, and it provides enough torque to do the job. I'm going to pick up a few more for my project plane.

Great little servos with metal gears. They are well made, but keep in mid it's only rated for 6VDC. Great for 1/24 scale crawlers, used for diff, dig, or 2 speed servo, & where you need a small servo. We'll see how well this will hold up. I'll follow up with updates if there are any changes. Overall I would highly recommend purchasing these HAWK'S WORK Micro Servo 9g, Metal Geared Motor Kit for Robot Arm RC Plane Helicopter Car Boat, STEM & Raspberry Pi Project (Emax ES08MA II) (2 Pcs) Finally this review is of my own honest opinion & is not swayed in anyway by other influences.
