  • A Poor Man's Knew Concepts Saw
I am retired and I'm pursuing my woodworking much more intently with my new found time. I'm doing a lot more dovetails now and really wanted a fret saw to remove the waste material. Recently people started using Knew Concepts fret saws and while they are beautifully designed, are very rigid and just plain gorgeous to look at ... but they start at $75+. I just can't justify that given I'm on a fixed income. I chose this saw along with Pegas SK7 blades and have had fantastic luck. The Hawk is quite rigid, well aligned and very easy to use. I've now done 50 or so dovetails with this combo and still on the original blade ... a testament to both. The Knew Concepts may very well be one heck of a saw, as many that are using it all can't be wrong ... but the Hawk is one heck of a saw as well!! ... show more

  • Good Value
Pleasantly surprised by how well-made this frame is for the money. I had to touch it with a file to get the blade tensioning to work smoothly, but I don't count that against my score. There are very few tools that don't need a bit of tuning up out of the box. Overall it's a good saw and I will probably buy other sizes. ... show more

  • Improved design saw
The frame is deeper than the one I have and this helps make long cuts. It also has the blade tightener on the end of the frame so the blade is kept straight.

  • Excellent precision saw
Easy to adjust for blade mounting, dimensions are good for most work-piece sizes. Feels good in your hand. I'm an RC modeler, so I use it to cut small components out of thin plywood and balsa. And definitely use one of these bases with this saw: "V-Slot Bench Pin with Clamp".

  • Junk
Screw threads on one blade jaw stripped two days after the return window closed. Junk.
