Although my first amateur attempt was not all that successful, with a little patience and practice it turned out well. I ordered this to apply finishes to my wood working projects, and avoid buying numerous aerosol spray cans. My goal was to apply a polyurethane finish. I used the viscosity cup as directed, and added paint thinner. When spraying I used what appeared to be the medium sized spray tip that the sprayer came installed with. I practiced the spray on a sheet of cardboard. It came out fast and heavy. I adjusted the flow. Still too heavy. Replacing the spray tip with the smallest, (finest), made a big difference and a successful application. I think the average user of this product is likely to be an amateur looking for a budget sprayer and therefore needing a better instruction manual than what is provided with the product. Still a good value for the price and I would recommend.

Updated: I used the sprayer with Country Chic Paint. I decided to try the viscosity cup. You need a 35 to 40 second run time. First it’s hard to test it with the paint since the container you put the paint in is very large and when you’re painting a dresser, you’re only using about a cup of paint. I wish they would make a much smaller container to put your paint in to spray. I let the paint run out of the viscosity cup and at 40 seconds. There was still a good quarter of the paint still in the cup. I added some more water and tried it again and there was no difference my paint was getting way too thin so I did not rely on the viscosity cup anymore. I sprayed a small amount on some wood first to test it and it looked fine. To back up a little they give you several different tips, but they do not tell you which tip is fine etc. so you have to guess. I started spraying the front of my piece. It appeared to go on well and took such a small amount of time compared to you using a brush. However, after the paint was on, I could see there was way too much paint coming out and it started to drip in places and used almost all my small can of paint which it should not have. I adjusted the flow control for the second coat and it came out much better. Still saved me a ton of time compared to brushing it on yourself. I have started doing more furniture painting and needed another sprayer. I saw this and was skeptical due to the low price. However, it has much of the same features as my homeright sprayer even brass nozzles! I was pleasantly surprised it even came with a gravity cup. Something my more expensive sprayer did not. You also get additional sprayer tips depending on what type of paint you are using. The cord on any sprayer is never long enough so expect to use an extension cord. It was no more than any other sprayer. I have not checked yet to see if the actual paint cup is a universal fit. Once my paint arrives, this came much faster) I will update the review upon using this. So far even without being able to use it, I am impressed.

Was a little learning curve .. Once I got the paint thinned down a bit the gun worked ok .. had to stop to cean nozel alot.. .. with a full cup of paint the connection between the gun and the motor is lousy is to where maneuvering the gun makes the cup trigger assembly fall off... The heat that the motor produces works it way to the front of the gun cuases the paint to dry and metal pivot pin for the trigger get really hot ... all in all it was cheep ... just needs some redesign... got the Deck painted!!!

I got this for some furniture projects that I had. I would recommend playing around with it first before going straight into your project. I tried it out on some cardboard boxes first to figure out how it would work. I would say it’s a good value for the price. It has definitely saved me a lot of time and overall it gives a good finish if you take the time to learn how to properly use it.

*Update* Sadly, this tool didn’t even last two months. It seems like motor overheated in the back of it and the trigger stopped working. It just kept pumping and it wasn’t cutting in and out. Really disappointed. It worked great while it lasted, but only a month of use before breaking is terrible. ———————— Such an awesome find! This sprayer worked fantastically to repaint doors. It has a clean consistent spray. It's easy and straightforward to use. I say smaller projects, because of the capacity of paint that can fit in the revisor. If you tried to use this to paint your whole house, it would take ages refilling it. Overall, such a fantastic tool to add to your tool box. Very pleased with this product. Makes for a way more professional looking paint project than using rollers or brushes. Especially on furniture which have nooks and edges.

I used this for applying exterior solid stain on a garage door and it was very easy to use. It did an excellent job of even coverage with a uniform fine spray. The only downside was emptying the paint from it. Because the top of the paint receptacle is square, rather than tapered toward the opening, it makes getting all the leftover paint out more difficult. All it would need is a slight slope so that the paint would run run towards the opening. That's the reason for 4 stars.
